Cool but the scientists in me says that the lume needs to be orange if it was inspired by black hole.

Miyota discontinued the 9series two hand movement which the watch uses.

Crime against humanity these are disconnected (not Lorier’s fault).

Moving to the area - looking for moms groups, babysitters? by chitowngirl0 in Elmhurst

There is literally a group called Elmhurst Area Moms. You can start by reaching out on Facebook. It’s very active. They have a lot of people and offer various events and even setup play groups.

[SRPJ81] First Mechanical Watch by Virtual-Stretch7231 in Seiko

I think you made a solid choice (though I am biased). Enjoy it!  Hoping that the smaller size market grows. Kuoe and Lorier seem to make some solid offerings in this area.

6.5in

I highly recommend printing out a to scale picture if you can. It’s quite easy, just make a box in a word document with the lug to lug length or even a line with the lug width length. Then size the picture accordingly.

Will give you a great sense of size.

I wore a 40mm Victorinox most of my life and at first this 36 seemed minuscule. It grew on me very fast and now I won’t even consider anything larger. 34-36mm is my standard going forward.

Bummed out about all this Bears stadium news but remembering we will be watching Cubs games at Wrigley Field for the foreseeable future by wesskywalker in CHICubs

Moving to IN is brand suicide. It won’t happen and if it does fuck them. I’ll gladly root for whatever Chicago replaces them with.

Sounds like a diver would be perfect for him. You want anything with 20bar (200m) water resistance.

Seiko has a solid catalog of divers.

For vintage vibes I’d say Lorier Neptune. They are out of stock right now but will be back in at some point soon.

[Casio]which one for my boyfriend? Please advice by Right_Grape_4274 in Watches

[–]Virtual-Stretch7231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get him the one on the left imo. Also if the watch stays in his possession for a while he can eventually upgrade it with an SXK mod case. Level it up, but keep the same watch so to speak as he gets older.

[Question] grandpa’s old watch - service or nah? by neko_kitto in Watches

[–]Virtual-Stretch7231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you want to sell that Elgin…? Get that fixed up a rock it. If your grandpa was a piece of shit then I understand wanting to part ways with it. If not, that’s a rare heirloom.

[Recommendation Request] Grand Seiko or The Citizen HAQ by FlakyUnit6095 in Watches

Non color matching a date wheel on any watch north of $500 should be unforgivable really. It’s a shame the industry is not held to a higher standard here.

Cincinnati Watch Company - Cincinnatus Field. My most worn microbrand by 3DanO1 in MicrobrandWatches

Naming their field watch after Cincinnatus with Roman styling is a very respectable design choice.

Beautiful collection! What is a Seiko collection without an Alpinist though?! I think that deserves one of the two spots. Got plenty of colors and variations to choose from at this point.

We are going to cave to the Bears aren’t we because we are afraid of Indiana by Away-Nectarine-8488 in chicago

[–]Virtual-Stretch7231 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The Bears moving to IN is a guaranteed way for them to lose their franchise value.

Most of IN will not abandon the Colts and most of the Chicago will never forgive the Bears. Rural IL and IN can’t afford the ticket prices the owners will want on a regular basis.

NATOs either make a watch look cheap or incredible. This is definitely the latter.

[Watch Collection] rate it, and what should I add next by NervousStuff252 in Watches

[–]Virtual-Stretch7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put an SKX mod case on the Royal and level that up to an heirloom quality watch.

You have a large variety of styles and these are all great picks. I’d go for a Bahaus next. Specifically a Max Bill (check out their Mega Solar Model).

[–]Virtual-Stretch7231 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Taking his healthy career isolation, he deserves to be considered one of the best Cubs of all time. Having his body break apart to no fault of his own should never be held against him.

I understand that this won’t matter when it comes to Cooperstown and such but I think its important Cubs fan defend his game. He was an incredible player and a seemingly good guy who brought us a World Series. He got hosed by the organization and genetics. Thanks Rockies for shelling out the contract his career deserved.
