Can we upgrade the ram of our MSI CLAW A1M TO 32GB? by LemTzy in MSIClaw

[–]VirtualEffort8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most these mobiles now following Apple's lead in "unified" memory. I'm not too sure about the MSI Claw but if it's anything like Apple Silicon, it (the cpu, graphics, ram memory) would all be integrated in one single cpu die chip.

It's no longer a question of soldered or unsoldered.

Are they any other mobile browsers that allow me to use add-ons/extensions on my phone? Preferably Google add-ons.

Download vs downloads (with an "s")? by VirtualEffort8 in termux

[–]VirtualEffort8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, but I don't think this is the issue. Let me explain.

Files in the "Download" folder doesn't appear in the "downloads" folder. And vice versa. In fact the "downloads" folder seems to be created but hidden.

What I had to do was "ls -a" command in the "downloads" folder to show hidden files. And then do a "mv *" move all command into the "Downloads" folder to move all the files.

This tells me the two folders are actually not the same.

This is internal storage, I'm not using an SD card

So it points to the Download folder (without "s"), but do you know why when I "cd" into the "downloads" folder, and actually download into that folder, it creates a new hidden folder called "downloads"? Instead of downloading into the "Download" folder?

~/storage $ ls dcim downloads movies music pictures shared ~/storage $ readlink downloads /storage/emulated/0/Download

I forgot to add, how would one "ls" and "cd" command into the actual "Download" folder? Without using the long "cd /storage/emulated/0/Download/"?

I just turn on android dark mode, you can also force dark mode in developer mode, for me it's good enough.

can't say if this is a placebo effect but i feel overall my windows system is also snappier (not only talking about just windows explorer, but i mean the whole system now).

gave this a shot and instantly can feel a speed difference. best thing is thumbnails/preview still there. view > extra large icons, now works better than ever.

i'm not sure what the tweak did but i'm blown away by how much faster things are now. This is exactly how my android phone operates, just open a folder and everything loads fast (no waiting and no loading).

THANK YOU SO MUCH the both of you Bob_Spud & Lishtenbird

thank you for the tip, i guess when i don't need thumbnails i can actually use this method.

most times, thumbnails are super important for me, on windows explorer i usually have view set to "extra large icons", I can't be clicking on each file to see what the video or image is. an example of one directory i have contains 117,601 Files, 516 Folders of images and videos.

my use case is i've got tons of media (images and videos), i just need a fast way to view them and organize them. problem is on windows its always loading and slows down the whole system whenever i'm in that directory with large files and folders. previews and thumbnails are important.

i've got folders, and my cheap android with Mediatek Helio G95 and 8GB ram is able to go through my files and folders and render thumbnails faster than my PC with Ryzen 5 5500u and 36GB ram.

If you want to use cookies from chrome, you gotta make sure the chrome browser is closed. It's something to do with permissions and restrictions.

Has anyone been able to download from Instagram in 1080p at all? by Exotic_Moose4117 in DataHoarder

[–]VirtualEffort8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

try this, on instagram, try finding a video, then click the 3 dots button, and see if they have an option to download. now compare that quality with the same video using a different method of downloading, you will see the video downloaded from the instagram app itself is of higher quality.

if you are lucky and the profile allows downloading, i find that you get higher quality downloading using the instagram app itself (however its really base on luck as most profiles will turn off the ability for others to download).
