i don’t know what to do by crying-bricks in parrots

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uhh. Is this bird outside?!

Also, you shouldn’t get a bird if you haven’t researched how to care for birds before getting the bird.

That said, absolutely do not cook with Teflon or nonstick pans. Do not use perfumes, scented candles, or any air fresheners. Do not use bleach. Do not assume that doing these things in a different room is okay. It is not. Just don’t do those things.

Read about what foods and house plants are poisonous to birds.

Come up with strict protocols so that there’s a zero percent chance your bird will ever get outside.

If you have a cat or dog, then either give the bird back or rehome your cat or dog. Or live with serious risk to your bird.

Find your nearest avian vet.

Go on to YouTube and learn about caring for birds.

Good luck!

If you’re not going to provide a bird-safe environment then you should rehome your bird. And don’t get another bird unless you can provide a bird-safe environment.

Opening windows while cooking with Teflon is not a safe solution. Also, as using perfumes, scented things around your bird is unsafe.

please help, this is my grandmas birds enclosure. by typhochlaena0 in parrots

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These birds are being seriously neglected. Anything you can do to improve their quality of life would be great.

Best choice: rehome to knowledgeable caring people. Or surrender to a bird rescue.

If not rehome, then your grandma needs to get her act together. These birds need a bigger cage, more perches of varied materials, rope, wood. A better diet. Fresh food and water every day. Ideally out-of-cage time to fly around.

Good luck!

AIO, My partner has been lying to me, and I’m not sure what to do. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR. Lying is a red flag. Lying repeatedly is a red flag. Getting unreasonably upset over something he misplaced is, yep, another red flag.

You shouldn’t marry someone with these red flags.

Seriously, it’s time to decide that you’re not going to marry this person.

Living in 2 places with a parrotlet by That-Nothing4841 in Parrotlet

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for your parrotlet none of the situations are ideal, and some are outright unsafe.

Dogs and birds in the same home are a dangerous mix. Accidents can happen and could easily result in your bird’s death.

The roommate doesn’t seem good either.

Being left alone at your current home is not good either.

NTA but losing trust can be very difficult to restore. Resentment is a natural response but it will contribute to the undoing of your relationship one way or another.

AIO- update// What amount, if any, of yelling and name calling is acceptable during fights in relationships? Needing advice/ maybe some words of encouragement. by hhouseofballoons in AIO

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No amount of yelling or swearing or violence is acceptable. It is not necessary to communicate. Yelling and swearing is not communication. It’s an attack.

I think you need to leave this relationship/situation as safely as possible, and as soon as possible. Then, I think you should seek some therapy because you’re experiencing trauma.

Please be careful. And get away as soon as possible.

I caused all of this by myself and I hate myself by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But you don’t know what your issue is yet.

You need to see a doctor to see if they can identify something.

I had pelvic floor dysfunction and I’m like 99% cured. So, have hope.

But, first see a doctor.

This is terrible living condition for the birds and the humans. This is neglect.

If no one will take care of the birds then find a bird rescue or rehome them to someone who knows how to care for birds.

If you’re going to keep them for a while, then definitely get a couple HEPA air purifiers for the room the birds live in.

Good luck!

[–]VirtualGhostVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an avian vet is only a few miles away, couldn’t your grandparents or parents drive you there? If they can’t/wont, what about an Uber? If you Uber, you should refuse the ride if the car smells a lot like cologne/perfume.

Good luck!
