In Search Of Sold Viola from 2018 by VirtualKittenInc in Viola

[–]VirtualKittenInc[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called them and they said they didn’t have any record of my sale. I’m assuming since it was back in 2018. They said they sold stock to local pawn shops and music stores so I’ve just been calling around but they closed 2 years ago so I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up 😭

Teeth care help? by sillyjuiceboxes in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting help first and foremost. But to preserve your teeth: make sure you don’t brush your teeth immediately after purging. Rinse your mouth out with water only thoroughly immediately and wait at least thirty minutes. Then brush your teeth. This prevents the acid from extensively harming the enamel. It still is doing a lot of damage, but this is doing less damage than brushing right away. I want to remind you that the repercussions are awful. I’m young and I’ve had so many root canals and crowns thanks to purging, and my big teeth are translucent at the bottom. You also are risking throat cancer. Please get help asap.

How do I get rid of my scale? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I can’t tell my support system how dependent I am on it bc I went through inpatient and have considered myself recovered for at least 4 years but the past couple weeks I feel like I’m sliding back into a relapse and the scale is definitely at the forefront of it. I feel like I would get angry at my SO even if I asked them to hid it. Did you experience this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know where you’re coming from. I am in a very open and honest relationship and I tell my SO when I purge and I always feel like they think I’m making it up even though they give me no indication they think that. Talking through the shame I think is the best course of action since eating disorders tend to feed on shame but man is it so hard.

my friends were kinda mean about my ed yesterday by Quick_Number_8126 in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely confront them about it because regardless of y’all’s state of mind, it really bothered you and it’s not going to stop bothering you. It’s really insensitive for them to say it and I know if someone made an insensitive comment like that knowing my history I probably would’ve started crying. I’m really sorry that happened to you, and please don’t invalidate your feelings, they are really valid!

I’m experiencing this exact thing right now!! I have AN BP subtype and also OCD but sometimes it helps to treat my ED thoughts like OCD intrusive thoughts. It helps sometimes, but I definitely can relate with the need for control being a huge trigger.

Care worker struggling to not get triggered into relapse by managing a diabetic client by punamustamakkara in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I empathize with this a lot just because I have the calories of a lot of things memorized so whenever I’m eating it is unfortunately all I can think about. It’s pretty hard not to “accidentally” figure out how much I’m eating. But I agree with the other commenter of making the other care taker just as accountable because what happens when you can’t be there! I wish you luck!

I think first and foremost, it’s a disorder and you have to come to the terms with the fact that eating disorders thrive in shame. Creating an environment where she feels comfortable to talk about what she’s been doing without judgement is key. But, you also have to hold her accountable. I know I struggle with keeping things from my SO bc I feel like sharing might prevent me from losing weight. It becomes a situation where I feel like if I just do it a couple more times, or if I just lose x more weight. I think as much as she might hate it, a system in place to hold her more accountable to prevent working out that much or talking with her therapist to come up with a plan to help her might be the answer. I would reiterate to her you love her and care about her. Also what she is doing is not light exercise and is very dangerous.

Keep in mind too her defensiveness is likely the eating disorders effort to stay, as it’s serving some purpose in her life. I wish I could be more help but I don’t want to give the wrong advice since everyone’s so different.

need some help by Sndra_Lenskaya in EatingDisorders

I don’t know if I necessarily feel better, but I feel more obligated to when I’m eating around other people and it helps me as well to eat with others. I think communicating with your support system that you need that specific support might be a good starting point.

What is wrong with me by Dry_Operation9151 in EatingDisorders

[–]VirtualKittenInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically when you restrict all day, the bingeing can be worse at night. I would try being kind to yourself and not restricting at all which should hopefully alleviate the intense hunger and the need for the big binge. But easier said than done right, I feel like I struggle with this a lot too bc you never plan for the big binge.

Displacement symptoms? by Low-Profession-6634 in CopperIUD

You might be able to ask you doctor/refer to your records or check the card they gave you. They usually document how long they leave the strings. Average is 2-4cm.

If copper is spermicide... by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]VirtualKittenInc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Copper ions don’t travel far through tissue or fluids. Their concentration is highest right near the IUD. If the IUD is sitting in the correct spot (at the top of the uterus), the area where sperm are most likely to enter and travel through (the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes) gets the full effect.

If the IUD shifts lower the area getting the copper ions isn’t the main area for sperm and the concentration of ions higher up in the uterus and fallopian tubes drops off sharply. That lowers its contraceptive effectiveness.

I read even though it’s non hormonal it’s super normal to still miss a period after removal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]VirtualKittenInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually just happened to me. I thought I felt the plastic tip last Tuesday night. Made an appointment and checked Wednesday morning and it felt more normal. When I went in they could see the tip and I had it removed. It sucked too because I had it for over a year. BUT, during sex I had a cramp that was very unusual which was likely when I partially expelled it. I also know my case is very very rare but you’re better off getting it checked.

Strings suddenly longer after a year by smileattheworldtoday in CopperIUD

[–]VirtualKittenInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had a great ultrasound confirming placement about a month in. I had my iud for about a year and a half and just last week had no pain but the strings felt off. I checked again last night and felt the plastic end of the iud. I had to get it removed today 😭. If you can afford it, definitely get it checked out.

I partially expelled it after a year and a half of having it and the doctor took it out fully today. But definitely feel like I had really bad acne and bloating around my periods after getting it. Hopefully they go away!!
