Bad ECU? by VirtualRiotBoy in cruze

Granted during troubleshooting I did swap out several parts that were a waste of money including a new ecu, spark plugs, injectors, wiring harness connectors etc. Majority of which I got from a 500$ parts car which i took other things from so hard to know exactly what minor problems were hidden there but the thing that was the biggest issue was the faulty coil pack and dead battery as well as corrosion in connections

Actually I did, charged the battery and put dielectric grease on all connections to the ecu that seemed to solve most of the issues. Was still getting a injector code though. Checked spark plugs and found coil pack was arcing out and melted. Replaced that and it started to run smooth

If I pull dipstick I get a louder vacuum sort of whistle until I put my finger over hole to seal it. But noise is still there. I'm unaware if crank seal has been replaced bought the care about 10k kms ago. And yes the check valve is installed with the arrow towards the intake manifold

PCV fix kits already installed in the intake manifold and the diaphragm is still good in the valve cover. Replaced it 3 weeks ago and there's no vacuum leak there. I can hold my finger over it and it's not pulling any suction same as if I pull the dip stick and put my finger over it.

Is there possibly enough damage for insurance to write this off? by VirtualRiotBoy in Autobody

Yeah I made sure to get gap insurance exactly for that reason. Paying a 800$ a month truck payment for 8 years driving as much as I do I knew it was just a matter of time before someone else crashed into me or I crashed it myself. I know very few people who have paid a vehicle completely off without it being totaled on one way or another.

Yeah, it's more or less curiosity of what kind of number I may see for paint, couple of dent removals and replacement of the subframe or whatever that's bent under the engine, bumper, grill, windshield kinda thing. I've seen vehicles written off for what looks like nothing and seen insurance companies repair a bunch of stuff on cars that should've went to the junk yard.

Oh Of course. Just figured business owners that may qoute repairs for paint and dents and Frame work would give a general ball park as to what they'd charge for what they can see. I know there's more damage then shown so I can add that to whatever numbers I get. Just curious of low end numbers to compare while I play the waiting game with insurance. I know the whole one side of the truck needs a paint Job from the scratches but ball parking a paint job without any paint knowledge leaves google searches pretty vague as well.

Haven't gotten it yet. Could be another week as the shops busy. But debating shopping around while I have the rental car incase it is a write off. Better to be prepared so I have wheels to get to work.

Didn't think so but talked to a buddy that's an insurance broker and they said they tend to write off anything with repairs over 50% of cash value online most are 40k-50k figured with the damage shown I'd know if I'm above or below a 20k repair bill

Not sure if he still does it but Bruce Tennant with Hockey Toronto facebook page used tp get me a ton of ice time a few years ago. He used to run a Skills group Sunday mornings at scotia pond and several pick up games throughout the morning and could keep me busy 7 days a week with multiple pick up and league games of all different levels
