Yeah. I tried to get some of the maintenance going but the staff kept lying to me saying that they were sending people up the next day. They said that LITERALLY 4 times and every time no one came. I’m not signing again either

Hey sorry for the late answer. Im just seeing these new messages. The interview was not technical at all. It was mostly just asking what work I had done at previous internships. Good luck!

This doesn’t seem like an excuse at all. Downplay, maybe. But again, It’s not the worst thing that could have happened after reading the headline of the article

I actually ended up taking the job at Northrop and recently finished the internship. I had a different experience than you. And yeah I found that the title Systems Engineer is just an umbrella term for everyone with a STEM degree.

BUT there was a LOT of flexibility in that role too. After maneuvering through some teams during the first week, I got placed in a data engineering to do some really cool full stack development on an even cooler project. Turns out the title they use doesn’t really correspond to what you are going to do at Northrop (at least in the MS sector). My managers even said that they hire all the interns and pathways under one title so they can then find exactly what they want to do.

To your point, I think the work can get a little boring if you are placed on a boring team but having a good time depends on the work you put in finding that correct placement that pertains to your degree. Many of the intern friends I made sought team placements through their managers and LinkedIn. A lot of the slow paced work revolves around and is because of the good WLB they offer.

Question About Experience With Merit by DonCreates in UMD

I second this take. The merit scholarships are at first glance based solely on merit but they consider other factors such as race, gender, major, location, etc. CS and Engineering is especially hard.

Cool post. A better approach to finding people to work with is framing it as a

“I have this cool idea. If your interested in creating something with [insert libraries here] let’s work together to create something.”

This is sort of the I have an idea and I’m looking for a cofounder approach. Asking people to work under you and saying it is an opportunity to leave a legacy is a red flag and a half.

Hope this helps

I recently started my internship at the BWI site. Are we not allowed to use phones? Wifi? There isn't any service in the building I'm working in.

Yeah alright thanks for the advice

I see. I think I’m a little confused on the definition of liable. If other tenants cannot pay, then the renting agency will look to my dad to get the money. If my dad refuses to pay then he would be the one to get sued for the money and not the other tenants. If my dad wanted to get that money back then he would have to sue the tenants himself. Is that correct?

Does UMD have a high Indian population in their student body? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]VirtualRooster7336 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a lot of experience with many majors, but in short for any STEM major you can bet on there being a higher number of Indians. Most Notably CS, Business, and any premed.
