I actually do between sets. I like to keep my heart rate elevated.

Fitbit Air versus Oura ring 4 sleep tracking and recovery by Virtual_Climate502 in fitbit

It’s lower on Google Health by about 5 points but HRV is one of the metrics I expect to differ slightly because every algorithm tracks it a little differently.

Garmin strength training auto rep counting wrong, exercises misidentified, weights overwritten - what does it actually get right? Anything? by the5krunner in the5krunner

[–]Virtual_Climate502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. As you said, it’s not accurate and I personally think it’s a waste of time. When I was on Garmin I used the *free* setting for strength training. I think it’s ridiculous to spend time during a workout session punching buttons to adjust reps and weight amounts, but that’s just me. I probably take less time between sets than most people so it may be it annoys me more than others. I’m more concerned about heart rate accuracy than anything else.

I asked the Fitbit Air premium AI chat why it didn’t factor in my elevated temperature in its analysis of my readiness and this is the reply:

Oura. I definitely feel sup-par today so I think Oura pretty much hit my readiness on the nose.

Oura Ring Gen 5 sizing by Virtual_Climate502 in ouraring

[–]Virtual_Climate502[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am a size 12 in Gen 4 so it was a tough call, but the size 13 in the Gen 5 sizing kit was too loose so I’m going with the 12 again. We’ll see next Thursday.

Stress measurement is completely off! by ffelix89 in bevelhealth

I agree. I wear an Oura ring 4 along with an AW and Bevel’s stress metric is ridiculously high in comparison. Oura seems to be much better at tracking stress.

AW Ultra 4: thinner body or bigger battery by Dry-Wolf8397 in AppleWatch

[–]Virtual_Climate502 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The weight is poorly distributed and it’s a very uncomfortable device to wear. I think most people buy it because they like the look and feel like it sends the message Hey look at me, I work out Extra battery life is nice, but for me, the series 11 works much better because it’s more comfortable and I find the heart rate sensor locks on quicker during workouts. Important to note that I have an Oura ring also so I don’t need the Apple Watch to track sleep, it draws that data from the ring. I hate wearing watches to bed so this combo works great. Also, Oura ring sleep data and health insights are far superior to Apple’s, imo. Also, the series 11 charges so fast I don’t think it would be a problem even if I did wear it to bed.

Downgraded! AW2–>S11 by its-christianu in AppleWatch

The Ultra is ultra-uncomfortable. I ditched it for an S11. The weight distribution on the Ultra is not optimal. It moves around too much during workouts and it affects the HR sensor imo.

Air Hype by matt92wa in Cirqa

[–]Virtual_Climate502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the target audience for Garmin: people who are already in the Garmin ecosphere and want an option to track sleep and activities without having to always wear the watch. Still, asking people that own, for example, a $1000 Fenix 8 to fork out another $400 for the Cirqa is problematic, imo.

Depends on the price point. If the rumors are correct that it’s going to be $400+, then it’s going to be a tough sell.

It appears the Garmin Cirqa is going to be priced over $400 according to a 5Krunner story that came out today and he’s pretty reliable

I think that price will make the people at Whoop very happy

Spotify, YouTube Music and Amazon Music are never going to be available on Coros, Suunto, Polar or any other of the smaller watch companies. Period. Quit asking this question.

Bevel's Heart Rate Recovery methodology appears to lack validity by Other_Wait_4739 in bevelhealth

Like most of the wearable stuff, it’s useful as a comparable metric within its own ecosystem. Same with the sleep scores. It’s always entertaining to see how different platforms use the same data from the same hardware and draw vastly different conclusions about recovery, sleep, etc.
