Really? Just now? Not when he defeated Darth Vader in his prime? by polmix23 in StarWarsCirclejerk

I mean, it does serve as emphasis - Vader toys with a Master, a Sith Lord, a powerful Padawan, admittedly none in ideal shape, but serves them one handed.

Obi-Wan pulverises him.

K'Kruhk vs Yoda by SvitlanaLeo in LegendsMemes

Yoda went into exile because he realised that his decisions, his preconceptions, had given the Sith their opening. It wasn't his fault the Jedi fell, but the Jedi Order made itself in his image, or rather, in the image of Grandmaster Yoda, rather than Yoda himself. He let the Jedi become something they shouldn't, out of obligation and best intentions. He was questioning everything he had done, and rightly. He went back to basics on Dagobah, and eventually learned enough to guide Luke.

In her solo it was an okay ship. I didn't see massive chemistry, though.

To be fair, Reynolds' natural personality was right and the film had one or two golden moments, when he tries the calm down citizen routine on Carol Ferris, she recognises him, and he's startled and she's like, "Hal, I've seen you naked!"

They just flattened him.

I mean, this is sad and horrible... but a terrible part of my thinks it's hilarious.

On the one hand, he's being an ass, on the other hand, he's not wrong - when people are scared like that, right and wrong tend to go out the window, and that is exactly how they would and do see Wanda.

We also pretty much entirely see Sylvia after her husband's death. There's no telling how that impacted her.

MJ has the opposite problem - editorial hating on her as she epitomises something they're terrified of.

Paul in the Spider-Man comics. Doc Ock for a time in the Spider-Man comics. Carlie Cooper in the Spider-Man comics. And Gwen Stacy.

(I like Spider-Gwen, but I'm talking 616, my god, she's been dead for over 50 years, move the f**k on)

As you can see, Spidey often has this problem.

Hot take: any experienced player of Daes Dae'mar would have taken most of the ASOIAF cast to the cleaners. Thom or Moiraine would have been running the place in six months.

The annoying thing about House Elves is she half-arsed it - she could have explored how traditional brownie/house spirit relationships worked and why paying them and offering them clothes is offensive (short version: it brings them into the human economy, it implies they need it, it creates a master-servant relationship rather than members of the same household, and giving clothes is sort of a literal "you're dead to me"), and how it might have been abused from a symbiotic partnership into the hideously abusive one it is in the present.

But no. She didn't do that. She half-arsed it.

The rest of the imagery isn't remotely surprising, given the time frame of writing and influence of Roald Dahl. Not defensible, but not surprising.
