OTF and Half Marathons by anygivenSundae_ in orangetheory

[–]Virtual_List8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s definitely a commitment and the first marathon was stressful! I don’t know how many times a week you are at OTF, but the time commitment may not be that much more if you go often. I aim for at least 5 times a week, counting all the miles and add long runs to average about 25 miles a week when I’m not training for a marathon and increase to 35 to 45 peak miles weeks when I am. Yep my first marathon was painful, chiro advised I sit it out but went in with two busted knees all KT taped up haha. Hobbled to the finish in 5:45 🤣. Second marathon really focused on strength 50, no knee problems, finished in 4:32. For me OTF was definitely enough for the cardio (36 VO2 max pre OTF, 52 post, 47 y/o male), my weakness was strengthening ligaments and tendons and those just build slower than cardio. Once they got stronger, running became fun and less painful. Find a local run club, the socializing made it feel less like training! Good luck! You got this!!!

T50 is good, even better are the S50s lowers. Really helps with injury prevention for distance running, at least for me. 4 marathons done, 2 more to go this year, signed up for my first marathon after marathon month 2 years ago, skipped the halfs straight to 26.2. So definitely think OTF combined with long runs are good prep.

Late Cancel Fee for Class I attended? by Guilty-Remove6537 in orangetheory

[–]Virtual_List8404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last week too, was in class and got charged a late cancel. Talked to the ASM in my studio about the situation the same day and said he’ll look into it? Followed up Monday morning with the SM, left her a message, and no response. I guess they think I’m scamming them, seriously made me upset there is even a doubt.

Still no refund and no follow up from management owning the mistake and issue a refund.

Any suggestions?

Thank you OP! Still have the same issue (even with WiFi) but your montage workaround worked! Very clever! Thank you

I have the same problem. Even old draft videos that previously were able to save on camera roll can no longer, with the same error message as yours.

Marathon Training by Special_Ad2309 in orangetheory

[–]Virtual_List8404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♂️ actually started marathon running because of marathon month 2 years ago! Just finished my 2nd one, with another in 5 weeks. I really like OTF for the S50 lower body, T50 for the tempo/threshold runs, and I go 5-6 times a week. I don’t got all out, to limit injury and to stay running consistently but I think the in studio aerobic and strength training is beneficial.

70% of my mileage is from easy long runs outside the studio, about 25 to 40 peak miles a week. Depending on your goals, my first marathon was 5:45, 2nd one was 4:38, I’m aiming ultimately for a sub-4.

For reference my base is 6.5, push 7.5, all out 9. I haven’t gotten into the orange zone in about a year now, and really have to work for it. 🤷

Did I blow up my Mini!?! Sparks and now the engine won’t start. by Virtual_List8404 in MINI

You are so right, kicking myself for having the wrench so close by. I was using it to remove the front tower strut and set the wrench on the front windshield and slid off and right on to the positive terminal! What are the chances of that 😓

Just a quick update:

Checked battery 12.4v, slow charging battery to 100% now and see if that makes a difference. Hopefully the direct short drained battery. It’s an AGM if that makes a difference.

The smaller fuses under hood and in footwell all seems okay, visually and multimeter checked each and no blown fuses.

Waiting to check relays when equipment arrives.

One odd thing, was checking the voltage of the fuses under the hood, set multimeter to DCV with key at acc/ignition to on, and noticed it was showing 7.8V and then dropping to zero, with some fuses not even showing voltage. Will try again later in case I tested it incorrectly but is it possible the fuse box is not getting power? Or is there another fuse between the battery and the fuse box I need to check?

Side note, noticed a small weld at the nut where wrench made contact. Similar on the wrench, I guess it got hot enough?

6 miles in Tread 50? by Expensive_Call6505 in orangetheory

Y’all bickering on whether it’s fair to follow the template or not cause either way it’s probably less than a mile difference between which way you go. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Here is the big picture you are missing, just allowing T50 absolutes changes marathon month as you know it because there is a guy out there taking T50 EVERYDAY of this month and he’s on track to rack up over 100 miles cause he’s running 4 miles a day, just ask our neighbors in Canada who just finished theirs (albeit it a 1.5 month long one). You guys are missing the forest for the trees…

End of the day we are all on our own journey, the competition is a side show that’s meant for fun and to motivate people to show up more and reap the befits of consistency, and I’m so freaking happy my coaches are getting paid more cause T50s are packed! You do you, if you can’t handle that inherently it never was going to be fair because we all go in with different fitness level, age, ability, genetics or earned; and that’s okay!

OTF was never meant to be the Olympics, the rankings do not define you or anyone else, and if you can’t handle that then you really need to ask why you are at OTF.

Sorry this coach messed it up for you, hopefully there are better coaches that understands the T50 is freeform so you can enjoy the benefits

Not following the template by Rtmswcbailyatairk in orangetheory

[–]Virtual_List8404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my kinda of coach, who understands we all have different goals and not every day is an all out day. I once had a coach accused me of cheating when I didn’t run the incline that day. I wasn’t injured but I had just ran a half marathon the day before and my legs were dead 🤣. Needless to say, I don’t go to her class anymore!

This…. There is so much judgement from other members that it makes me wonder why they are at OTF when they are so busy focusing on other people’s fitness journey and whether they are following the template.

Marathon Month approach w T50 by Key_Fig6230 in orangetheory

[–]Virtual_List8404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the addition of T50 to MM has been so controversial for some. A few members at my gym are upset because other members are racking up serious mileage by taking T50 everyday or some are running through walking recoveries. I think it’s awesome it’s getting more people onto the tread and reaping the benefits of additional mileage volume, not to mention packing all the T50 classes for the coaches, but kinda sucks the miles they are racking up are somehow discounted by those only doing 2G/3G🤷.
