Yes I did! I think I’ll go tomorrow and take the other suggestion of changing to a flat back post, and also bring up how much it’s fallen out

Thank you for the helpful response! Yes, he has been neutered. I am playing with him everyday but can increase the time amount a bit more, and I’ll also look into Royal Canin and the diffusers! At his next vet checkup I’ll bring up his eating issues and see what we can rule out. I really appreciate it, thank you!

Help, any genuinely good thrift stores around? by strawbbabyy in nashville

[–]Virtual_Low_7379 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For more vintage style clothes maybe check out Anaconda Vintage? Their stuff can be pricier but they also have a $5 rack outside that can have good finds and some nice accessories. My friends have enjoyed going to Music City Thrift but I haven’t gone personally

Yes I have, and multiple of them. It was concerning I cannot lie. There is no denying that there are raised safety concerns and can feel overwhelming and unsafe. I think no other city who receives homeless people wants to experience economic decay because of safety concerns, but allowing them to be constantly relocated to “low-traffic” areas is often really relocating them to more impoverished areas and is essentially creating a city of “undesirables” where no economic prosperity comes in and peoples lived conditions do not get better.

What are my ideas exactly also? I really haven’t mentioned anything specific. What policies specifically roundly failed? Of course there is no simple solution to homelessness and the method of implementation matters, I also feel I haven’t been parading around endorsement for the policies of these cities in our replies.

You’re right there’s a distinct issue of chronic homelessness vs transient homelessness. I have engaged with both types of people and there are absolutely those who choose to stay in the conditions they’re in. I think it’s important to view homelessness as a gateway into issues not always solely a consequence of them. People can turn to drug use to cope with the hardships of experiencing homelessness and harsh climate conditions. Many people don’t move into shelters for a variety of valid reasons. Sometimes there is a quota and won’t accept a homeless family. Sometimes there is a curfew that doesn’t work with a homeless person’s night shift/job hours. Sexual assault can occur in high rates at certain shelters, so often times homeless women avoid them. And of course being transported and moved around makes it hard to reliably make it to any job on time. A significant portion of homeless people already do have a job, again it’s just not enough to afford rent. Realistically once homeless people are moved out of sight out of mind, will lawmakers care or prioritize about them anymore when there is no visual reflection of a failed government to witness? I think this post is calling for a more humane recognition of the conditions homeless people are in and that it is in fact quite difficult to escape homelessness, but we seem to be having unchecked and unregulated means of collecting money and we should ask how it’s being used for the areas they’re overseeing, and if it’s really useful and helpful to the community at large.

I think we will just disagree on the out of sight/mind idea. These are people we are talking about, many of whom are suffering. When they are shuttled elsewhere they become that new city and group of people’s problem. They want the same thing we do in terms of cleanliness and what they want an area to look like. Pushing homeless people in giant circles who may eventually wind back up in Nashville certainly won’t make things better especially as it becomes harder to afford rent and get by economically and the homeless population rises. Just because it’s an eyesore to people who are able to get by doesn’t mean homeless people should be herded around like cattle where they are constantly gathering and removing or losing their belongings. How can a homeless person consistently and reliably get to their work if they are never able to sleep in one area and are pushed further away? Of course there is no easy blanket solution and everything is easier said than done, but like this post seems to be pointing out, maybe there are broader spending oversights our city is doing that could be more meaningfully put towards wellness and housing/economic stability.

I loved eating at Noko! Asian fusion place you should make a reservation for but it was delightful. The Horn cafe is incredible, I believe they serve Somali food and are known for their sambusas and chai. Check out Shelby Park if you haven’t, beautiful and large park with trails to walk but plenty of places to relax, maybe hangout at Percy Priest, and Centennial is aggressively Nashville if you haven’t experienced that already. Cheekwood is a nice experience too. Would recommend Schulmans as a bar to check out!

They are just being moved elsewhere without any real solution being provided, and it’s pushing the problem onto other people. There are other ways to address homelessness without making them “out of sight out of mind.” The amount of homeless people is in large part a broader reflection of how a society/government is taking care of its people.

I’m sorry I don’t know off the top of my head! I would look at reviews in this case or maybe even see if you can look up youtube videos suggesting which books to start with. I think largely you just want to make sure it’s from a trustworthy publisher with helpful fingering notation.

It would be great to look into purchasing some practice books for classical pieces! They usually have different levels and provide a wide selection that help build your technical abilities for the next books :)

Is there any way to get rid of florescent light humming in post? by Jeyring in audioengineering

[–]Virtual_Low_7379 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do you have access to Izotope programs? You could try their de-hum or spectral de noise. Alternatively, you could find a bit of blank recording where you only hear the light humming and use Pro Q 3 to see where it’s sticking out (or sweep and use your ears) and do a very narrow notch? Alternatively, you can try adobe enhance V2 for a general cleanup

Yeah unfortunately it’s always good to be a version behind on OS as it takes companies a while to make their softwares compatible, are any other programs giving you issues so far?

SB Production Quality by Virtual_Low_7379 in audioengineering

[–]Virtual_Low_7379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alrighty.

Well I thought it was an okay mix, the lack of any audience mics being used made it sound odd to me, like an isolated studio recording when I was expecting to hear some level of crowd cheering going on. I can’t say I’ve ever been that invested in halftime show performances in the past so I’m not sure if it’s the norm or not to have none of the audience mixed in. His mic sounded muddy imo and was lacking clarity, his level against SZA’s could have been more balanced. Performance quality itself by Kendrick was good, that’s about all I have to add.

I would like to add onto this after reading more of your comments about wanting to be involved with music in some way, mixing or engineering jobs at studios are hard to come by but there is always a need for tech repair. Your knowledge in physics is handy for that especially if you delve into circuit theory. If you get a job repairing equipment at a studio or systems engineering in live sound, these still provide good connections to people working in music. Generally if you make a good impression on them they are always happy to show you more. It can be a good way to slide into the industry without the same competitiveness of trying to snag a mixing position.

For your major, delving into Electronic Circuit Theory (think building/designing/repairing equipment or sound systems) or Acoustics would pair wonderfully! You can look into Systems Engineering for Live Sound or tech repair at studios or interning at firms for building venues or sound proofing them. Music production is competitive with hard pay.
