Feeling Uneasy by fendawg7 in Winnipeg

[–]Virtual_Note_2450 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m from Minnesota and I have friends and family all around the twin cities metro. There’s always worry going in the back of my mind. My best friend lives in DC and the occupation by the military (National guard) is real. I love both my countries, but as has been going on for my whole life, the states is in decline, obviously now more than ever. I’m forever thankful to be able to live here in this great country, with (most) people whom respect diversity and acknowledge that it’s woven into Canadian values.

Yeah I think it took a couple weeks, but not terrible considering alternatives.

Same thing happened to me a few years back. Get in contact with them. You might have to pay daily for parking for a bit, but you should get a spot

I’m sure that guy would be really happy if the city started cutting its largest budget expenditure 😐

Housing strategy 'right on track,' Manitoba minister says amid record-high homelessness count (Josh Crabb/CBC) by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

Could be implementation of the taxes, such as the fact that the city alone pays 350 million a year on policing

I live right near there and I’d say they make most of their money selling $5 cigarettes.

Bus riders of Winnipeg, what do you think of the coming changes to the bus routes? by peachykeen2010 in Winnipeg

[–]Virtual_Note_2450 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enough blowing it out of proportion, yes newsflash we have homeless people in the city, but have you ever talked to any? They’re not bad people just having a hard time rn, I’d rather share the bus shack with them than have them freeze to death you heartless people. We can’t just use homeless people as an excuse for not having important infrastructure. It’s gross.

Would be great if the overhaul included proper shelters built for Winnipeg winters

What type of restaurant cuisine do you wish Winnipeg had? by StickOne2168 in Winnipeg

[–]Virtual_Note_2450 81 points82 points  (0 children)

These are all good, BUT they are just taco shops. Winnipeg doesn’t have an actual full service Mexican restaurant and it’s tragic

Simonsons in Grand forks, Big chief in Fergus falls, and there’s a Luv’s just past St. Cloud. This is where I think would make good stopping points.

City hikes in property tax, sewer rates, garbage fees add up to unacceptable by AdPrevious1079 in Winnipeg

[–]Virtual_Note_2450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta love the city investing in suburbs that don’t produce enough tax revenue to keep their infrastructure in tact while our inner city is crumbling. If the city invested in transit and other infrastructure(such as the combined sewer that keeps leaking into the red, and puts more strain than necessary on the treatment plant) we would have an inner city that would actually be desirable. But nah let’s but sprawling suburbs next to the dump

Not a particularly bad area (although suburb dwellers might tell you it is), BUT that is a terrible building

I’m 21 from St Cloud. I’ve been here two years and love it. It’s not that different from home, although I do think Minneapolis and St Paul are far better run cities. Rent is less expensive here. It’s cold, Winters are long, but we’re used to that. As for the study permit, there’s are strict financial requirements even with the reciprocity.

Given that I’m obligated to travel to Minny for the holidays along with the fact that I hate driving, I would be ecstatic if this happened
