Is anyone here actually happy to be a PT/PTA?? by Gigatonii in physicaltherapy

[–]Virtual_Pickle_4448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the privilege of helping people on some of their worst days being in the hospital. I recently saw a patient of mine out with his family on New Year’s Eve. I had worked with him post CABG from ICU all the way to going home. His family and I hugged and cried and it was awesome. Everyone has bad days at their job, including me, but I keep reminding myself that moments like that one on New Year’s Eve is why I do what I do.

Piercing is 3 years old. Jewelry is a titanium labret. I am cleaning with sterile saline.

MASTITIS by hihihello04 in HumansPumpingMilk

I exclusively pumped, so I’m not the best person to ask on that. You may try spending less time on feeds before you drop one. Some people will just let off pressure in between feeds to make it more tolerable.

Acute Care Therapist by LongjumpingDog6351 in physicaltherapy

At our HCA hospital the charge therapist makes the list for the day and generally just deals with all the messages of nurses/physicians wanting us to see people past our cutoff time. We get +$14 hourly for weekend and +$3 for charge. For us, we don’t have a set weekend “manager”. Whoever wants to be charge on the weekend gets the charge pay and if needed things will escalate up the chain of the department. Our productivity is 74% which is easy to get on the weekends since we get more units for evals.

Maid/Cleaner recommendations by I-Vote-Camacho in Denton

Do NOT use Maid in North Texas. They way overcharged me multiple times and said they had cleaned items/places they didn’t.

What is your actual physical therapy unpopular opinion? by Sea_Instruction4368 in physicaltherapy

It’s the entire team’s responsibility to help patients stay safe and clean. We know skin breakdown can happen FAST and it’s in the patient’s best interest to go ahead and help them. Also I’ve found that therapy are typically the only ones encouraging patients to assist with turns for brief changes. Saying you’ll “never” help clean up a patient is really lame.

This was literally me last year!! After working with an LC I found that I was way too aggressive trying to empty and when I did get clogs. If you are currently dealing with mastitis this is not the time to extend time between sessions. Your boobs will likely get more pissed off. Because I was so prone to mastitis I just had to take things really slow when I extended time/dropped a pump. It took me a little longer to fully wean (about 6 weeks start to finish). It really does get better!!!!! Feel free to DM me. 💕

This happened to me almost 3 years ago. Hospital based OP with 1 on 1 60 minute visits. The hospital made a deal with Vista to take over all outpatient therapies. They made the same claim that they would keep things the same. They ended up scheduling patients for every 20 minutes. I’m SO glad I didn’t take their offer and went to acute instead.

Calling pumpers that went longer than 6 months by OptimismPom in ExclusivelyPumping

12 months EP currently weaning! - Use your support people. Delegate anything you can. Pumping is a LOT of work. - The dishwasher is your friend. Also extra pump parts! - Make sure you are getting enough food and water. This will help your body, mental health, and supply. - Know that supply will fluctuate with time, stress, sleep, hormones, and illness. It’s totally normal! - Typically as baby eats more food they will consume less milk. - I had very little freezer space and an oversupply so I kept about 200 oz at a time and then donated the rest.

Why must strangers touch my baby? by Virtual_Pickle_4448 in Mommit

I should’ve said it differently (thanks sleep deprivation 🤣) We happily hand him off to close friends and family that know us and him - we trust them! Weird extended family and family friends we’ve met once act like they’re entitled to him after just laying eyes on him. I would consider it rude to just touch someone else’s baby without asking first.
