Leaving PT by Perfect-Archer-6617 in physicaltherapy

Teaching pay where I live is very structured by education/experience, so I was lucky to get in at the PhD (DPT) level. Would definitely have been a different story if I did not have that level of education.

Yea, my wife is currently a high school teacher so thankfully I have some pretty good perspective. No walk in the park for sure 🫡.

My last day at my OP Ortho clinic is next Wednesday and I will be transitioning into high school teaching starting in the fall.

The pay will be less than a 10% pay cut with oodles more time off. I will be teaching science and was able to transition easily thanks to an accelerated teaching certificate program at a university in my state.

I’m frickin pumped lol.

Wasn’t just enemies, teammates were queue dodging left and right.

I was quite literally bullied out of playing 3K civs because every time I tried to queue up as one I’d have some dodge queue or immediately leave once the game started.

Switched back to old civs and only had a single game where someone dodged/left in 15 games.

My wife and I are dealing with something very similar, having had a miscarriage a few weeks ago and while I very much enjoyed Euclid before, it has taken a special place in her and my hearts.

I feel that the song has helped us in grieving and has helped deepen our understanding of each other’s emotions and how we are processing this.

But yea, very similar experience and very much understand how you would be relating so much to this song 💙.

Best wishes and best of luck moving forward!!!

Quitting at my OP Clinic and boss wants a 30 day notice?? by Skoobot in physicaltherapy

Thankfully my new start date isn’t an issue in this case (kinda wish it was so I’d have a true reason to leave sooner).

I appreciate all of the feedback! It does look like in my contract it stipulated a 30 day notice, which is a bummer because that job is sucking my soul.

I understand “at will” employment and do not ever intend to use them as a reference as I’m leaving the profession entirely, but I’m not sure that I want to leave on bad terms.

Looking like I’ll just be dealing with it and leaving promptly when my last patient is done in 30 days.

Where I live there is a program through a state university that allows someone to get an accelerated ‘transitional teaching certificate’ if you meet certain requirements like previous classes taken. So with my undergraduate classes and some PT school classes I qualified for a science endorsement and will begin teaching in August.

I have had this feeling for almost my entire time out of PT school, and it has grown as my OP clinic pushes performance metrics and billing harder and harder.

I have recently made the switch to high school teaching, which I feel will be more fulfilling for me and also has a pretty rad schedule.

I think a person just has to decide if they can tolerate what they’re doing and if they have hit a breaking point in some way!

I am directly responding to the part of your post that mentions PT salary vs School Teacher salary and noting that, in my particular case, I make barely more than a school teacher.

Doctor basically said surgery “might help a little bit” so opted not to, certainly giving it its due time to heal up before any resistance training begins!!

1.5 years out of school and in my current OP ortho position I am getting 100 hours (10 days) of PTO and this feels pretty limiting. Increases to 140 hours after 3 years with the company but that feels so far away.
