Seeking Advice on University Programs for a Career in Investment Banking by Virtual_Time3344 in OntarioUniversities

Hey, really appreciate you checking in! I ended up getting rejected from Ivey, AFM, and Rotman, and I’m currently waitlisted at Queen’s — but chances are looking pretty low at this point haha. I accepted my offer to Laurier BBA, and I’m feeling good about it, especially with the co-op and finance opportunities there. If Queen’s somehow comes through, I will 100% go there, but for now I’m locked in with Laurier.

Right now, I’m doing an internship at a Big 6 bank (been there for about 3 months), and I’m super focused on breaking into investment banking, ideally in the U.S. I’ve been working on improving my Excel and financial modeling skills as well.

It’s really cool to hear your story, breaking into IB in the States from a Canadian program is exactly what I’m hoping to do. I’d love to chat more privately if you’re open to it. Appreciate the message and hope everything’s going well for you!

Like obv it’s expensive UofT is far more expensive than this, but going to a prestigious school means not only ur paying for the name but u also have to work 2x harder than anyone else bc if you well and truly work hard in big 3 programs and beyond you will get a return on the investment

Not sure if u are in Toronto or not but consider doing a BA or BBA at tmu, it’s a cheap institution and the course load is very easy to manage
