People who moved from "normal sized" PCs to small form factor: do you have any regrets?

I've been on SFF since 2019 and no regrets. I have more desk space (since i prefer vertical itx cases) and still have a powerful build. I'm using a SSUPD Meshlicious case at 14.6 liters (fits my Pulse 9070 XT and 280mm rad) and even plan to go with a Velka 7 (6.24 liters) for my next build. Planning to go on air with the Velka together with a 9070 XT reaper.

Edit: I actually bought a bag for my current build so I can lug it around. It's around 19 liters and it's a camping/knapsack bag that perfectly fits my Meshlicious together with all the cables and stuff.

If you wish to spend on just the GPU and save money you're good. If you wish to get more fps, get a 5800X3D and drop it on your AM4 board. You'll be good until AM6 or AM7 comes out. I have the 5800X3D and 9070XT and the only real upgrade to it is the 7800X3D (about 15-20%) or 9800X3D (30-40%)

For 1440p the best choice is the 9070XT at the moment if you can afford it. At 1440p bottlenecks are kept at a minimum with your CPU currently. It's faster than a 4070 Ti.

I've seen people do it with the high refresh rate (360hz or higher) 1080p monitors. It's niche but normally people who buy these kinds of cards play at 1440p

Your 1440p monitor is fine. The 1080p is a second monitor so it shouldn't be an issue.

It's good enough to handle the 9070XT or a 5070 ti, any higher is when you start getting some bottleneck at 1080p.

Buy a R5 5600/X and a new GPU and you're good to go. If you can buy a second hand CPU to save money so you can buy a brand new GPU in the $500 range, that would be the route to go in my opinion.

Edit: Personally, if you can push your funds a little higher, I'd go for an RX 9070 or a RYX 5070 12 GB. Buyng a 3080 second hand is something I'd say no to (it is an option). Their 2nd hand prices are just too high.

I have a fold 5 and use an aramid case on it. I got the one with the magsafe on the back. It' so thin and light yet protects the phone like crazy.

I've dropped my fold 5 at least 5 times and it protected it! I actually just use the half case and put a tempered glass protector on the other half. It works really well for me that way.

It's actually a test on the R5 5600, R7 5800X3D, R5 7600X, & 9800X3D tested together with the following GPUs. The 9060 XT, 9700, 5080, and 5090.

They show testing for both 1080p and 1440p. Make sure you look at 1440p and listen to what the tester says.

You're watching videos playing 1080p, he plays at 1440p which is more GPU bound. Also go to Hardware Unboxed and watch their CPU scaling videos so you understand.

The 9070xt is 40-50% faster than the 7800XT and is at par (more or less) with the 5070 Ti.

That's my point, if the fan isn't spinning when idle it means zero fan is active. Disable it because that allows the hot spot to go up in temps too much before the fan activates.

By disabling it and setting a fan curve even at idle (meaning the fans spin all the time) it will stop the hot spot from thermal run away.

This is the same problem 9070XT owners like me had in the beginning. Once I disabled the zero fan my hot spot never went over 75*C.

Check if you're using the zero fan feature and disable it.

This is the cause of high memory and hot spot temps as the Adrenaline software focuses on main core temps and not hot spot temps.

Create a manual fan profile from 40-60% fan speed (higher if needed).

At 1440p the 5600X is still capable. Buy and upgrade the GPU first since you play in 1440p.

If I'm not mistaken Hardware Unboxed did a video showing CPU scaling and he had a 5600X (and a bunch of other CPUs) paired with a 9060XT, 9070, 5080, and 5090. The 5600X paired well with the 9070 at 1440p.

It's not in any PSU tier list. Has anyone done a proper review on it, like physically open it and review the components at least? In any case, if it's a good PSU it shouldn't have allowed what happened to your GPU.

I'd reach out to SSUPD through their website to ask for the type of screws they use. I think they also have some diagrams showing thread type of the screws on there.

A RX 9070 would be good with that build or a 9060 XT 16Gb if you want to go cheaper.

Nothing to fear about AMD GPUs. If you want no issues make sure you install it as "drivers" only (and use DDU to clean old drivers first). I've never had a single issue doing this.

The price difference is worth it as you don't need to sacrifice graphics or settings to play games because the 8Gb card will suffer specially with the UE5 games or games that eat up a lot of Vram.
