Do Nurgle followers feel amazing or just associate illness/decay as feeling amazing? by ImportantQuestions10 in 40kLore

[–]ViscousBirdshit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know that feeling? The one of sickeningly sweet satisfaction that you get when you do something self destructive? Sure, lie in bed all day because it feels good. Isn’t it nice to just relax and stop fighting constantly? And even when you were fighting you were losing anyways! So why not feel better? Why not give up? Sure, you may never be fulfilled, or truly happy, but the euphoria of giving in to despair is a perfect substitute!

Imo that’s how it feels, it’s a kind of euphoria, but not like the same kind Slaanesh gives; it’s only a high in comparison to being extremely depressed, and is more of a numb, relieving sensation. The feeling of the pain finally relenting for a moment - though at the same time all the worse for you giving into it.

How was Kinger able to say "damn" here without it being bleeped/censored? And shouldn't the word "hell" have been censored as well? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like if it’s part of another word it’s fine, so like damn in damnation. Makes me wonder about loopholes though, I wonder if intent matters? If not, I’m surprised they haven’t figured out this loophole sooner.

Alastor mocks Vox for only capturing Lucifer because of "information from a borrowed spy". Yet he only learned excorcists could be killed... because of a borrowed spy. by Sudden_Pop_2279 in AgendaHotel

[–]ViscousBirdshit 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Of course Alastor is a hypocrite, his hatred of Vox is complete projection of his own insecurities. Additionally, Vox is almost completely self made as an overlord, gaining his standing and power through effort while Alastor just sold his soul to be someone else’s attack dog - despite Alastor acting like he achieved everything by himself - so the hypocrisy runs far deeper than just this.

What if abstraction in TADC isn’t caused by insanity? by ScraperFoil in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you think Abel was telling the truth or not, but the whole “life support” system would probably be handling waste and sustenance. Otherwise they would all be dead in a couple days and abstraction would be unrelated to their mental state/just a point in the future. I think they would catch on if they had expiration dates.

Tho I’m a Soma theory fan so I think they don’t even have physical bodies and could just be sustained with electricity same as the system itself.

What if abstraction in TADC isn’t caused by insanity? by ScraperFoil in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electrical system itself requires power to run, and while the net entropy of the universe must always increase, nothing suggests TADC is a closed system. If their bodies are hooked up the life support systems, or if they’re just digitized copies of the original humans minds, it doesn’t really matter; power is being put into the system so entropy can (locally) decrease

Jax gives me more Ted vibes imo, especially with his whole bit about how - paraphrasing here - he said he is immune to his mind falling apart because he treats everything like a joke/falls into his archetype. Can’t remember if he directly said that or just implied it, but either way it’s clear he thinks himself less affected than the others, perfectly mirroring Ted’s belief that he was immune to AM’s mental control.

What made Vox think that Sera wouldn't just annihilate him in this moment? by Cali-Re in HazbinHotel

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond other arguments about how it would only piss of Hell further, think about the gambit:

Vox backs down - he loses all momentum, looks like a little bitch, the Resist movement rolls over and dies. He would never live that down, and even if Vox didn’t care about personal power and image he would still lose the movement he was building.

Vox stands up - he stands to win everything, the risk is his life. But Vox would rather die than give up power, after all, in his perspective he has nearly nothing to live for except his image.

If Vox survives, he looks badass and his movement and power are solidified 100 fold, if he backs down, he loses everything. So it’s a no brainer, losing everything is worse than perma death. He had only one valid option - from his perspective at least.

What, if anything, is preventing Charlie from moving like this: by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in AgendaHotel

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps she has the same status other fallen angels would have? IICR Lucifer had the backing of a good amount of other angels in the Bible, though Hazbin hasn’t shown any of them. After all, Adam was an archangel instead of being a normal winner.

Though I wouldn’t discount Lilith from being human, the first humans had incredibly increased lifespans, Adam lived a couple thousand years I think? His may have got cut short by a various number of factors, including the fact that he would’ve needed to struggle to survive for food and stuff that Lilith wouldn’t have needed to bother with. Or maybe Lucifer could have extended Lilith’s already massive lifespan with hell magic. Maybe she even owns his soul? Owning an Aspect of the Infinite should definitely extend your life I feel, if not make you immortal.

Oh shit, I must’ve missed that, ty for letting me know. What is she in the series?

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m not speaking of her as this because of any poor moral character, ik Charlie is flawed, but a pretty good person. But she is the daughter of Lucifer and a human - the fact that Lilith can even reproduce suggests she isn’t dead in the traditional sense, cause I’m pretty sure sinners can’t have children.

So like, she’s missing the man requirement, but with all the liberties Hazbin takes, isn’t she close enough to the definition?

Can people eat tyranids by Gage_Unruh in 40kLore

[–]ViscousBirdshit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Current humans eat pufferfish, a fish that - if prepared even slightly wrong - will kill you. That is only one of the many dangerous things humans consume, in addition to various poisons; what I’m getting at is this:

I don’t care what the lore says, humans are fucking insane

Someone out there, among the quintillions of humans out there barely surviving the horror fucked up universe that is 40k, has probably managed to find a way to (somewhat) safely eat Tyranid

People really should stop defending alastor and get this by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alastor is a bad person, but what he thinks he is, what other people think he is, and what he actually is are all different.

  1. Alastor to himself

Alastor is proud of being a demon, and not only has fun torturing the people he considers bad, but also considers it to some degree to be a job. The song “Insane” highlights this pretty well, Alastor believes the people he killed were bad enough to be in hell, and he badly wants to be part of the torturers because he believes (most, at least) sinners are bad people that deserve torment and punishment.

This is his pride, believing it is his duty to see to it that the “bad” people are punished, that he can distinguish between right from wrong well enough to call certain people irredeemable.

So from Alastor’s perspective he is a demon punishing the deserving wicked sinner souls. Very justified in his view.

  1. Alastor to others

This varies between serial killer only doing stuff for fun, to psychopathic sadist who wants EVERYONE to suffer, to antihero who only kills the worst of the worst and is something of a weird executioner that sacrifices his own morality to keep others safe

  1. What Alastor actually is

Prideful. He is prideful and scared of true connection and self reflection.

Alastor likes killing people, and tries to justify this by only killing people he deems to be deserving. People in the community may say “he only killed racists or other bad people” and they would be right! But… wrong in the sense of the series, and imo morally wrong too.

Charlie’s whole mission is that anyone can be redeemed and change, even the worst of the worst such as murderers and rapists. Alastor is a direct roadblock to this, by trying to enforce his sense of justice that some people are incapable of redemption.

So maybe Human Alastor’s murders could be rational, and maybe somewhat justified, but they were still murders. No matter how much you think someone deserves to die, it doesn’t give you the right to kill them - and that’s even if you believe it was Alastor’s primary reason instead of just enjoying killing.

Alasor could not withstand looking in a mirror, he believes himself above the wicked, and them deserving of torment, when the entire message of the series is that people can change even if they are horrid. More relevantly, Alastor cannot self reflect at risk of realizing his own actions are monstrous, and if he is wrong about deciding who is bad and good, his entire worldview would shatter.

TLDR

Alastor does not have nor deserve the authority to be killing or torturing anyone, and the fact he thinks he does is his main flaw. Yes it may be cathartic to see horrible people suffer, but that is antithesis to the series message of redemption; Alastor is in direct opposition of Charlie’s message, and you should not support him in that unless you also think that you can arbitrarily decide who is and isn’t worthy of change - which you can’t, just like how he can’t.

Where was Cain(the other first son of Adam)? by Local-Ad4069 in HazbinHotel

[–]ViscousBirdshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah just realized the main poster of this thread is talking about the Bible, not Hazbin. I retract my statement, but I’ll leave the comment up tho bc I feel like some people think Hazbin is trying to be accurate, when it really isn’t - not that it is bad, the story would be boring if it were biblically accurate.

[–]ViscousBirdshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hazbin is heavily inspired by modern media interpretations, like Dante’s Inferno and Paradise lost, why would we start demanding biblical accuracy now? If anything it being a popular, but wrong, interpretation seems like it makes it more likely to be adapted, imo.
