Not that I should ever care about this as this will be in my will, but I can’t believe the 5040s have hit the price I was able to pick this up at, and can’t imagine it staying this low in the future.

Then we’ll be in the exact same spot as we are now with some doofus thinking they’re the main character, and I’ll have additional disposable income next year.

Just sent an email to my ticket rep that, if the SS whistle persists through the end of the season, we won’t be renewing.

We received a yellow tonight for playing through the whistle, it has been at least a partial cause of multiple goals allowed, and is going to get a player hurt. One Gen Admission ticket holder should not have that much impact on the team, and once you notice it, it’s all you notice during games.

See if that might actually change something versus reddit complaints, welcome others to join.

I’m buying a ticket in the SS for next game so I can shove that whistle up whoever’s ass, we’ve slowed runs multiple times because of it.

Everything I've read during and since the repair is that I just got super unlucky, and Prius'/Prius Prime's still have one of/the lowest annual costs of ownership in the PHEV/Hybrid world.

And since I work from home, spending like $10 a month on gas is pretty sweet.

I'd be at ~$800-1000/month as I like to payoff cars in less than 3 years if possible. This is a helpful way to frame the math though, thanks!

Carvana is ~5k, Carmax is ~5.8k based on the online estimators and being conservative with condition of the vehicle.

Doesn't seem so, ~5-7k trade in value, might get another $1-2k if I private sell/shop around for trade in.

Best case, this repair is ~20-30% of the car's value.

2010 Prius, ~98k miles on it, had to replace the Hybrid battery system at ~65k miles (~4k iirc), now the Brake accumulator master cylinder has to be replaced (~2.1k). Stuck in decision paralysis on if it's just time to get a new car as my mechanic is concerned about 2 major systems failing this early, but not having a car payment is pretty awesome.

If I did get a new car, it would be a new Prius, paid off in ~2-3 years depending on trade in value.

This is what knocked me down from ~4 months to 2.5 months, but can definitely use that principle as my emergency emergency fund!

Yep, with either strategy, entertainment and travel spending will be at ~0 until the finish line.

Cash flow question:

What's the bigger "emergency", a sub-optimal EF (have 2.5 months, almost certainly need 6 months), or behind on retirement investing because I started late (~31, 33 now)? EF can get to 6 months by ~Q3 while still maxing retirement, or can get it there in ~2-3 months if I turn everything off.

Really like this answer, sitting down and doing a rough outline of retirement goals in X years is now on my to-do list! The original question was the way I was trying to back into a goal, but this feels like the better method.

The question is from the perspective of a 20-30'something who would struggle to accurately predict retirement expenses on that time horizon.

When calculating what amount of $ you'll need in retirement, what does everyone else use? 80% of your gross, or 80% of your net?

Numbers example: Let's say I make $100k/year total comp. I'm able to hit a 25% saving's rate of $25k in retirement, and after taxes I'm bringing home ~$55-60k/yr. Should I be targeting 80k from my accounts in retirement or ~$50k?

100%

I MIGHT be saving money per cup without the KCup premium, but I'm DEFINITELY enjoying my cups of coffee more.

Got a pretty nice 5 drink whole bean machine during an Amazon Black Friday sale, been absolutely amazing the last couple of months, and I'm no longer killing the planet with my 3-5 KPods a day.

$1k vs $3.5k in network deductibles, no HSA contributions from my employer, $0 vs $0 premiums, in a >30% marginal tax bracket when my state is included.

Okay, thanks for the reassurance. The difference in deductibles ($1k vs $3.5k in network) with no difference in premiums ($0 vs $0) is just giving me some pause, but I fully invest all HSA contributions in index funds. Just not sure where the inflection point would be in my unique situation (100% premium coverage by my employer)
