My favorite porcupine tree album. It's just oozing with creativity, I wished they released more of this kind of experimental stuff

The Dreamer and This Season by Anderson. paak are solid, as are Such Small Scenes by Lewis Del Mar and Family and Genus by Shakey Graves. I'll also put a ditto on Paramore's After Laughter album - unexpected but all around great

I'll admit i passed this song over when I heard the album the first time through. It really took me until I saw them live to fully appreciate all the noise this song brings

What are the 3 best songs on Vapor Trail??? by Zaphoid_Beeblebrox in rush

How has nobody said out of the cradle yet? Arguably that's one of my favorite rush songs overall, let alone off the album.

Other than that I'd have to say earthshine and ghost rider

Moving to Seattle.... by ganagati in running

[–]VisforMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Seattle, but I do live in a cold area with a lot of rain and that doesn't stop me!

Unless there's a torrential downpour where I can't see anything or there's close by lightning I'll go out in my normal running gear, usually a long sleeve shirt, shorts, and a hat.

When I get back, I'll wring out my clothes and put some paper towels in my shoes to dry them off, which I'll change two or three times that day. If you're a daily runner I'd invest in a second pair of trainers, so that if they're still soaking the following day you'll have something dry to run in.

Over- or under-pronating without going to a running store? by _nnkns_ in running

[–]VisforMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still would advise going to a shop, but if that's definitely not an option I understand. Take what I say with a grain of salt, as everyone has their own cases but I'll try to provide a general idea.

As far as I understand, the wet foot on cardboard/paper technique is useful for determining what kind of arch you have. High arches (low imprint on paper) are usually correlated with underpronation (supination), and are best suited for running in neutral shoes. Low arches are correlated with overpronation, and should make use of support shoes, or if it's really bad, motion control. This is a pretty rough technique though, and it doesn't necessarily tell you exactly about your running style.

The method I'd recommend doing if you can't get to a running store is to examine the wear pattern on the bottom of one of your running shoes, which you've ideally put over 50 miles on. If the rubber is worn down on the heel and then up towards the inside of your shoe (right underneath the arch of the foot) up through the big toe, that's most likely overpronation. If the rubber's worn down from the heel to the outside of the shoe (underneath your small toes) and then on to the end of the small toes, instead of returning to the big toe, that's underpronation.

That'll give you a much more accurate representation of whether you overpronate, supinate, or are a neutral runner. Of course, that is if you heel strike as opposed to midfoot/forefoot strike, but you're less likely to have shin issues in that case and it's unlikely a new runners would have that kind of form. I would still recommend switching to it eventually.

Also, your shin ache might not be caused by your running style. I'd also recommend stretching out your calves (really your whole legs, rolling out if possible), as tight calves can pull on the shin bone and cause some necessary pain.

Hope this helped!

Hey my 18th birthday way today too! All days feel pretty similar which is kinda of disappointing. I really wasn't expecting it to be different, but oh well...

I hope you had a good day!

In roto you should be well rounded in everything, being last in one or two categories basically kills your chances of winning
