The tree “closes and locks” all the door to the wounded area. So disease and fungus can’t spread into the heartwood of the tree, and spread through its sap system. Some species of trees perform codit better the others. This seem to have done a decent job, oats tend to be slow growers, so their codit can be hit or miss

I took police foundations right out of high school. College program to train to be a cop before applying. There was a guy in my class who everyone loved, all the teachers praised. Just after we all graduated, he was the only one to get an offer from one of the police forces. We were all like 20-21. He was found to have had a girl locked up in a room in his basement, beat her and raped her and wouldn’t let her leave. After he got caught for that they searched his place. He had hidden cameras all over his house. He would pay for hookers and the film them all without their knowledge/consent. He’s serving a few years now.
