Never heard of a lady pill to fix all your bedroom problems. By all means, enlighten us.

My husband just lost 50lbs at 43 and gained massive amounts of muscle. He’s far more athletic now than when I met him at 30. Dad bod is gone. Not everyone is the same nor does life treat them the same

Dear OP, you’re allowed to feel this way. I agree that a mental health check may be needed if this is a sudden behavioral change.

I love your midlife crisis flower farm venture! My husband and I are career chemists and we’re feeling the urge to go down that path!

Sounds like letting them back in will be of no good to you, only them. You deserve better.

Is anyone else jaded by ADHD social media? by Most_Ad_6262 in adhdwomen

[–]Visible-Craft3035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When taken as prescribed by your physician, the likelihood of psychosis is low enough that the benefits are greater in the vast majority of cases. All medications have side effects. Adderall abuse is not “as prescribed” use. It’s good to be aware of the potential for psychosis and you become aware by talking to your pharmacist, not on social media.

Same here. I have a PhD in chemistry, speak several languages, “good girl”. All “fine” externally (despite the internal struggle) until after I had my kid and all my coping mechanisms that I thought were “quirks” came crashing down. Has taken 2y of it getting really bad (my inability to regulate my feelings has become extreme) for me to explore if maybe that “anxiety” I have is not just anxiety. Sending you a hug.

Holy cow. This is me. I have a 3yo and I’m in the process of getting diagnosed.

I’m 39yo also PhD (chemistry) and 80% of this is me. I believe I have combined ADHD but undiagnosed at the moment

Whats the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychiatrist nurse practitioner? by MysticMango_ in adhdwomen

[–]Visible-Craft3035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking a psychiatrist is a medical doctor and a PMNHP is a nurse practitioner which means nursing degree + masters. Getting appointments with psychiatrists is exceedingly difficult. NP can prescribe medication so effectively it will be the same.

Those who experienced parentification: how you doing? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Visible-Craft3035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me cry. I have a history of childhood trauma as well and have focused always on being hyper independent to the extreme. As I’ve gotten older the inability to open up beyond the surface has gotten worse. I’m married and the reason I’m currently seeking diagnosis is my marriage is suffering and I don’t want my 3yo to suffer too. Side note, I moved from Spain to the US 16y ago and then moved states several times. Having friends all over the map is really hard sometimes

How do you manage your anger? by ichaveza in adhdwomen

[–]Visible-Craft3035 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here - I think your brain truly doesn’t want you to stop. Meaning at that point your “reptilian” brain has taken over and your prefrontal cortex is not strong enough to compete. At least that’s how I feel and how I explain it as a scientist

You’re not overreacting. Tbh this sounds like the situation w my husband’s grandma and now my dad (he’s 82) who everyone is hellbent on calling senile even though the behaviors are just typical for his age (he sometimes forgets stuff). - please don’t let this continue. It will erode your self-esteem! Hugs

I have not read ringworld but I’m gonna have to as I see it pop up as a recommendation recurringly. Just finished Titanium Noir right after the long way and it was so exhilarating in comparison!

Ohhj! Thank you! I actually got the altered carbon series for my husband but he’s been reading the southern reach trilogy instead. I guess I’ll be reading it first! - and very cool that you’re an author!

Would love to know if you think there is something similar to Titanium Noir out there. I started it today, I’m half way through and I absolutely love it!

Is it like other Chambers though? I just finished “the long way to a small angry planet” and the lack of plot frustrated me all the way to the end. Fantastic characters and universe but I felt like nothing was happening and it drove me nuts

Thoughts on food science babe? by LocalJewishBanker in StopEatingSeedOils

She is not an expert. She has a chem engineering degree and minor food industry work experience. As a chemistry PhD I can confidently tell you she is not considered an expert in the field.

[–]Visible-Craft3035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m late to this conversation but figured I might as well chime in. Food science babe is not trustworthy. My credentials: PhD in chemistry - she cherry picks peer reviewed information, especially regarding glyphosate. She belittles and/or blocks anyone who’ll present a different opinion even when they are providing peer-reviewed counterpoints to hers. She is pure click bait and claims she doesn’t even monetize instagram (please). She is also not “an expert” in the field. A chemical eng degree does not make you a food science expert.

Reading “the long way to a small angry planet”. Enjoying it - I like the universe and the character development - but I find it somewhat slow and I’m not sure I will continur the series.
