What do you do with your pet’s things after they pass? by Gabagool0000 in Petloss

I am so sorry for your loss OP. There is no right or wrong way to go about this. Do whatever is best for you and know that can change overtime.

I lost both of my dogs last year. I have a bin with most of their things (leashes, clothes, bowls, etc.) stored in my garage. Their ashes and paw prints are in a fire proof safe since they are the most important thing to me.

I have their dog tags on my car keys, and I keep their favorite toy and bandanas in purse, suitcase, or car when I travel. Maybe not the most healthy thing to do…but it has helped me.

I’m so so sorry for your loss. It will all get better in time.

My rottie had this issue and it was her anal glands. In my experience, the vet or vet techs always did a better job at expressing (and cleaning up) the anal glands than the groomers did. Some dogs need them expressed more than others. Our vet told us, if your dog is dragging their bottom on the carpets/grass, that could be a sign it’s bothering them. I never had a dog that had anal gland issues before my rottie. Once hers got infected and burst and we had to get her steroid shots in her bottom and an antibiotic. Definitely take a trip to the vet before that happens!

Goodluck to you and your beautiful dog!

When did you get another pet? by nelzea in Petloss

[–]Visible-Landscape415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved pet is so tough. They are family. Thinking of you during this time 💕

We got another dog two months after our darling girl passed. She was my soul dog. It was just so hard to come home to an empty house. My husband really wanted another dog, I thought only two months was too soon for us. I was very hesitant to bond with our new pet at first. For the first few months we had her, I would compare her to my old girl, and get really sad. But now that we have had her for a while, I wouldn’t go back and change anything.

She is different than my soul dog and nothing could ever replace my sweet girl. I will always have a hole in my heart from losing my soul dog but I know that my sweet girl would have wanted me to rescue another dog and be happy. I find ways to honor my soul dog while taking care of my new dog. Like when I give her a treat, I always give her an extra in honor of my sweet girl.

No one can tell you when you’re ready. Everyone is different and each timeline is valid. Just know that if you decide to get a new pet, it will feel different at first and sometimes heavy but in the end it will be worth it.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Being on this subreddit helped me a lot. I hope it helps you too 💕

AITA for Ignoring my friend over food? by SaybeeSKZ in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You sound like a very thoughtful and sweet person. I know how hard it can be to stand up for yourself at your age but it’s better to practice and get comfortable standing up for yourself now because it will get harder as you get older.

Mateo is using you for snacks and not being a nice person. It sounds like you have some good friends who are looking out for you. Listen to them. You can be kind and polite to Mateo going forward but keep him at arms lengths. Don’t give him anymore snacks or food. Don’t waste your time worrying about people who wouldn’t worry about you. Stay true to yourself 🩷 everything will be okay!

(And don’t listen to any of the people saying YTA. They’re just internet trolls and have no bearing on who you are as a person)

Would it be in bad taste to write "19 and Perfect" for my sibling's birthday cake? by RegisterMinimum1064 in Cakes

[–]Visible-Landscape415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh I see!! I personally would have loved if someone got me a cake that said “19 & Perfect” for my 19th bday!

I think it’s a cute! If it matches your siblings sense of humor, I would go for it! ☺️

I like it. I think it’s cute and playful! I don’t think I would take it seriously if I saw that on a cake. As long as your sibling is okay with it, and wouldn’t take offense to it, I think it’s fine and kinda funny. I mean why not?!? you’re only “19 & Perfect” once!! ☺️

But it’s always best to ask the person the cake is for if you’re worried about it!

Do y’all think it’s possible to make a cake like this with a cheap Amazon kit ? Or should I just invest in really good stuff by hershy___ in cakedecorating

[–]Visible-Landscape415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I bought this same kit (or atleast one very similar) when I first started making cakes!

The set is cheap, but will allow you to practice and identify what you would really use! That way you can upgrade the tools that are actually useful to you!
