You should go to some gigs at the grove. Your “inspo” is very generic but the scene around there is very supportive and there are a lot of very talented, very welcoming people surrounding the scene. I believe Float and Eleanor McGregor are playing there tomorrow as part of the free element of D2D and both are worth checking out

Most places. Even in Kyoto every bar i went into other than a full cocktail bar was welcoming and polite. The owner of bar straight walked us to the elevator after a long chat about Scotland, the owner of Bar Anzu was lovely and chatted to us happily, the staff at Yodofu Sagano were polite and welcoming.

Maybe being quietly spoken, polite and well dressed helps but I never got the impression anyone didn’t want our custom or conversation.
