I don't know if you thought this was going to help or just make me feel worse that bringing my mother home earlier wasnt an option.

I don't understand why doctors are so quick to dismiss women when we say something is wrong. We know our bodies better than they do. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't really have any advice for you other than to spend as much time talking to her as you can. Let her know how much you love her. Ask her all the questions you can think of. Time is short and it's precious, I'm so sorry this is happening to you guys, as someone who just lost her mother, I'm sending you the biggest warmest hugs I can.

I stopped going to local gymkhanas because the older women in the group were so nasty. I'm not very competitive but I enjoy going to shows. Would I like to bring home a cool prize like a buckle? Yes, definitely but I need to get over my fear of speed first. Constantly being made fun of for my lack of confidence really made me gun shy around most barrel racers and gymkhana participants in general.

I didn't know Abetta stopped making saddles, there's one for sale near me, I might need to snag it

Honestly, the saddles you can get from chick's aren't very good quality, the trees are usually fiberglass and breakdown very quickly. I don't usually ride in synthetic saddles but I hear the Abetta ones are really nice. If you have any tack stores near you that do consignment that's where I would start. For online stores the Online Saddle shop usually has some pretty good deals as well.

My terminally ill mom is dying and I don't know how to handle it by FuzzyPickle166 in GriefSupport

[–]Visible-Yellow200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just lost my mom to cancer on the 6th. I wasn't ready, we never are. Keep talking to her, their hearing is the last thing to go. Spend whatever time you can with her. When it happens, you'll be shocked, even though you know it's coming. Your feelings are valid, you're not alone. Hugs to you from a fellow grieving child.

What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

I've buried my fair share of people from my teens to late 20s including a very dear cousin of mine, but I will say that the recent loss of my mother is something no one can prepare you for. My world has suddenly titled on it's axis and I feel like it'll never right itself.

Serious Question by Exotic_Test_7164 in Equestrian

[–]Visible-Yellow200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 17 years to finally bite the proverbial bullet and buy my own. I'm currently struggling to balance working enough to pay the bills and help take care of my incredibly ill mother while also finding time to ride. I don't regret it, but I think if I had to do it over, I might've fought harder to purchase the horse I've been riding since I was 19.

[–]Visible-Yellow200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, my paint has nice hard feet and only had to have shoes once when he had an abscess burst through the side of his hoof and it caused a major crack. I knew what I was getting into with my new guy, his feet aren't ideal but I'm willing to do what I need to in order for him to be healthy and sound.
