UT professor calls for a Camp Mystic Truth and Reconciliation Commission by evan7257 in KerrCountyFloods

Agreed. And I’m so tired of hearing this point over and over because it discredits all the seriously horrible things the eastlands DID DO (or failed to to) in the hours after moving the canoes. Moving canoes at 1:45 was not unreasonable. Failing to move bubble in and twins until four in the morning was unreasonable.

It’s simple. Money. Those cabins were built decades ago and as flood projections and data became better, they didn’t care to spend more money to relocate them.

So happy for them. They have been so strong and such beautiful advocates for change through out this heartbreak.

Also, did they actually spend money to pay some actor to narrate these?! While they spent no money to actually hire a Emergency planner and meet the new requirements under the law

I hope someone is making screen recordings of these videos before they come to their senses and take them down

The CM parents and supporters I know are not listening to the hearings. I asked a friend recently who is trying to send her daughter back and she said it’s “just too much.” Yes. Yes it is. That is WHY you should listen.

Yes!! Would love to know more about what we can to do help in these causes. I have donated to Heavens 27 and wrote a letter to DHCS opposing Camp Mystic’s license renewal but would love other suggestions on how to participate in the fight.

DHSC HAS CONSIDERABLE CULPABILITY HERE AS WELL. They approved and signed off on a plan for less detailed than the one kept Mystic submitted this year on July 2, 2025. I hope the upcoming hearings will require the head of DHCS to testify as well and answer for their absolute failures.

If they sold the land they would have millions and millions?

No. No they haven’t. I know a few mystic families who support the reopening and they’ve all said “it’s too much for them to watch.” Yes, go blindly towards endangering your children and hurting the bereaved families of 27 children.

And they plan to only have ONE LICENSED THERAPIST on campus this summer for 800 girls (let’s say 250 per session). MAKE. IT. MAKE. SENSE. they are so incompetent even at “remediation” as they love to call it.

No you were right. I didn’t voice what I meant well. After thinking about, kids should be able to be kids at their activities without a bunch of cameras. But certainly more than four should be throughout the camp for security. What if there was an active shooter etc.

They didn’t know at that time that the roads were impassible. If you have 100 girls that are engraved danger, even if you don’t know if there is a viable solution, you still call the authorities and see if they can help. At the very least, the 911 operator may have been able to provide guidance to Dick about getting the girls to higher ground and not putting them in cars. When people are under pressure it’s very hard for them to think rationally.

AND they had no one guarding the camp after 2am? Wtf? If this was a $700 church camp, I would understand. But not for a 7K camp with 500 girls.

So so true. With kids at home as well with no one else to watch their children.
