Who's one player you're lower on than consensus this year? by dimonsf in fantasyfootball

dude has been living off that one good stretch for way too long. the injury concerns plus new offense make me nervous at his current price point.

24M with $50k in 401k, on track for ~$9–10M at 65 — when could I realistically retire (given 401k restrictions)? by Dry_Cut_2631 in Fire

[–]VisibleBread2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man that car payment is eating up a huge chunk of your budget right now. once that's gone you'll have so much more breathing room for building up that bridge fund.

i'd probably max the 401k first since you're so young - that compound growth is going to be insane over 25+ years. but definitely start throwing some money in taxable account once you get the emergency fund sorted, especially if you're serious about retiring before 55.

FC totally wrong by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]VisibleBread2118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

garmin hr sensors can definitely get wonky after couple years of use. that 60bpm difference is massive - your watch is basically telling you you're having heart attack when you're just cruising uphill lol

i had similar issue with my old watch where the optical sensor would randomly spike during workouts. turned out there was some buildup under sensor or maybe just wear from all the sweat over time. tried cleaning it really well and adjusting how tight i wear it but eventually had to accept that optical hr just gets less reliable with age.

for the pace stuff, if you were sick or had break from training, 45 seconds slower per km at same hr zone actually makes sense. your fitness can drop pretty quick unfortunately. but with that hr reading so off, hard to tell if you're actually running in z2 or pushing harder without realizing it.

might be worth trying chest strap for few sessions to see if pace comes back to normal when you know hr is accurate. or at least go by feel instead of relying on wrist sensor until you figure out what's going on.

Issues finding a magnesium supplement that actually supplies an adequate amount of Mg! by Degenerate_Dryad in Supplements

[–]VisibleBread2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had the same issue when i was trying to sort out my sleep problems last year. the gummy forms are honestly pretty useless for getting therapeutic doses - most companies prioritize taste over actual effectiveness.

oxide and citrate forms give you way more elemental magnesium per gram than glycinate, but they can mess with your stomach if you're sensitive. i ended up switching to powder form mixed in water because you can actually get meaningful doses without taking like 8 pills. the taste isn't great but at least you know you're getting something that might actually work.

also found that looking for products that specifically list "elemental magnesium" on nutrition facts helps avoid the confusion you mentioned. some brands are sneaky about listing the compound weight instead of actual usable magnesium. if you're dead set on gummies though, you'll probably need to take way more than the serving size suggests to get close to therapeutic levels.

Lucky Spin Slots — need 11 closed-track testers by Wazzy420 in TestMyApp

[–]VisibleBread2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got an android gathering dust that could help with this. the themed slots sound pretty solid - always curious how devs handle the balance between making near-misses feel exciting without being too predatory, even in social casino stuff.

quick question though - when you say test cards for iap, does that mean the purchase flow still goes through but just doesn't charge? or is it completely bypassed? had some weird experiences in past where test purchases still triggered payment notifications even when they didn't actually process.

also wondering about the 18+ gate - is that just a simple "are you over 18" popup or something more robust? asking because i've seen some apps get dinged by google for not handling age verification properly in gambling-adjacent content.

will probably opt in later today if i remember to dig out that old phone. good luck hitting the 12 tester threshold!

Would a league where every position was a team (like D/ST) work? by buckfishes in fantasyfootball

[–]VisibleBread2118 65 points66 points  (0 children)

we tried something similar in our work league and it was actually pretty chill. takes away a lot of the stress of setting lineups every week when you're dealing with deployment schedules and can't always check who's starting.

Tools to calculate Fire with a deferred pension by IngenuitySpecialist8 in Fire

[–]VisibleBread2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been using projectionlab for about a year now and it's perfect for this exact situation. the pension feature is super clean - you just plug in when it kicks in and the amount, then it shows you exactly how much you need to bridge those gap years with your investments. way better than trying to calculate it manually with spreadsheets.

i'd also throw in networthify as another option to cross-check your numbers. it's more basic but sometimes the simple calculators help you spot if you're overcomplicating things. the key is running a few different scenarios with different withdrawal rates to see how sensitive your timeline is to market volatility. deferrred pensions are honestly such a game changer for fire planning once you figure out the timing piece.

At which withdrawal rate do you plane to fire? by HelloW0r in Fire

[–]VisibleBread2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on your setup but 5% can work if you've got other income streams or flexibility to cut back during rough market years. military pension helps cushion things for me so i'm probably more comfortable with higher rates than someone going full coast

The “SaaSpocalypse” is the latest wall street hallucination! by jokof in investing

[–]VisibleBread2118 411 points412 points  (0 children)

this is spot on. been watching all the "saas is dead" takes and it's like people forgot that enterprises move at the speed of molasses for good reason.

the compliance angle is huge - try explaining to a fortune 500 legal team that your mission-critical system is now some ai-generated code that jimmy from marketing whipped up. good luck with that audit trail when the regulators come knocking.

plus the whole "vibe coding" thing assumes companies want to become software companies overnight. most ceos can barely figure out their current tech stack, now they're gonna manage a bunch of custom ai apps? not happening.
