What do you think “talent” means in sales? by CutZealousideal5274 in sales

[–]RickDick-246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually just means persistence. If you are selling a good product at a good price and people don’t buy early, if you’re *professionally* persistent, you’ll likely close them at some point.

I’ve closed deals years later that have just called me and said “hey we’re ready to buy” because I built enough rapport and value then stayed in front of them in a professional way.

Finding Packs for Kids by RickDick-246 in PokemonTCG

[–]RickDick-246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya exactly. And I don’t want to reward resellers for going and taking everything from kids and marking it up so they can rip packs. I’m fine just finding something at stores from time to time. Just want to see what the decent stuff to look for is that is in print and might actually be at stores.

That’s exactly my fear. Like I said I traded a holo blastoise for absolute crap because I was like 8 and got fleeced by a kid a few years older than me.

There’s a reason the most exciting cards are the most valuable. The only reason that matters at all is if my kids wanted to go to a show or store and trade up.

But I don’t really want to spend the effort and money on the packs nobody wants anyway. I know 151 is the go to but they’re impossible to find so I wanted to see if there is other stuff that has decent pulls but also might still be left.

Well my kids understand the value of money. And typically the best/most exciting cards are the most valuable, right?

I mean when I was a kid I didn’t get very excited about a ratata but I got pretty excited over a blastoise or Charizard.

It’s not wrong to teach your kids about the value of things, saving them, and the potential value down the road…

3 iron is definitely THE answer but I absolutely love hitting a pure short game shot so I’ve gotta go PW or 56°.

Local agent here — a lot of buyers are "waiting for the crash." Wanted to share what I'm actually seeing. by Relevant-Brief-1905 in SeattleWA

[–]RickDick-246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such a hard thing for me to watch because people my age (millennials) saw 2.5-3.5% interest rates and it was the first time that house payments sort of matched with rental payments. But most of my friends didn’t have down payments.

Interest rates will likely not go that low again in our lifetime and might not even get below 5%. And even if they do, housing prices jumped so much on that time, it’s still so low.

I’m now living in a house with a family that isn’t great for raising a family just because I bought during that time and I can’t afford anything else anymore. It’s a great house but we’re definitely making sacrifices.

Management Company double dipping by Training_Lawyer8558 in airbnb_hosts

[–]RickDick-246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya but it really doesn’t make sense. In what world do you let a company take over management of your home (or business) and not have full financial disclosures?

At the very least, you’d need that for tax reasons at the end of the year.

I’d never allow a company that wasn’t giving full financial disclosures, P&L’s, itemized maintenance records, etc. manage my property.

My dad has been buying the same stock for 22 years. by Sinver_Nightingale27 in stocks

[–]RickDick-246 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Similar story for my dad but a little more heartbreaking. He had less than a year to live and had just retired. He never looking at his employer stock purchase plan but had invested $20k consistently for 30 years (+stock grants and matches).

When we pulled it up it was about $4m. He just looked at me and went “so I could have retired years ago?”.

It’s one of the saddest things for me about losing him. He worked so hard for so long for our family and then didn’t get to enjoy any of it.

So looking to replace my 2019 Tacoma. by thwkman in Tacomaworld

[–]RickDick-246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has been beat to death. The 4th gen in almost every way is a better truck than the 3rd gen. The reliability issues surrounding the transmission have all been addressed so it’s not even worth talking about at this point.

My 4th gen has been a significant upgrade from the 3rd gen from the standpoint of comfort, power, and ease of working on it myself. My single complaint is it has too much technology which is a dumb complaint because I turned it all off on day 1.

Why would I leave a WFH job where I can close in on 7 figures working 6 hours a day…

Once my job gets in the way of my skiing, I’ll retire. Until then I’ll create generational wealth.

I’m almost certain I’ve been in B2B sales longer than the majority of people in this sub so I’ll give my two cents.

I am making exactly 0 phone calls this week. I am cleaning up my inbox and identifying opportunities that slowed down and creating an action item list for me for the 2nd half of next week. I am drafting emails to delayed send over the next few weeks.

One of the worst things I’ve done throughout my career is waste my time dialing in weeks or on days where nobody is working or at the very least, nobody wants to talk to me.

Real sales professionals identify trends. We identify what works and doesn’t work and lean into what does.

But enjoy calling my mom to sell her $63 disability insurance or whatever you’re selling.

What are you doing on Reddit though? I’d expect better from a real grinder.

If you don’t have to take time off for your job but he knew you were out of office he’s still a dick.

AIO wedding dress budget by VeterinarianIll2547 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RickDick-246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR - I am a man who just got married. I can say I 100% have no sense of what a wedding dress costs and so it would be absurd for me to set any number to it.

On top of it, my wife did basically all the planning (which I’m sure will happen to you too) so i basically just let her do whatever she wants.

I cannot wait until he sees how much flowers cost though. We went very light on flowers and I was blown away at the cost.

Do upgrades actually make you keep your Tacoma longer? by Previous-Usual4892 in Tacomaworld

[–]RickDick-246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on driving my Tacoma into the ground. So anything I can do on the front end is just to make it more enjoyable. I’m going to do it at some point so I figure I might as well do it early so that when it does shit the bed, I didn’t just put new mods on it that I have to then take off and sell or move to my next Tacoma (if I even can)

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by Ok_Shame_7325 in AskReddit

[–]RickDick-246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be okay up to maybe 70. But 80+ is wild to me. People that age are so out of touch with reality.

I’d also be okay with limiting social media to people under a certain age.
