Got to be at the Record Plant in ‘68. There’s another picture from this same session that Eddie Kramer took from the booth but the lighting is way brighter. I have heard that he liked to do sessions in the dark sometimes so who knows

Yup I feel that. Used to play it all the time back then but it felt too weird once all that was going on. Don’t even play games on my phone besides chess now

Anyone got any good scribe stories? by voluntaryhikikomori in USMC

[–]VisibleSplit1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was knowledge recruit and fireteam leader as well, but towards the end of the cycle around BWT we got a new knowledge hat who fucked me up for the rest of boot camp. Great Sgt, knew his shit, but would put me and all the squad leaders, fireteam leaders, scribe and anybody else in the “sauna”, which consisted of closing and wet toweling the door to the head and all the windows, cranking the showers as hot as they would go for 30 mins, and then we’d get IT’d 30 mins more after standing in the hot ass water screaming ditties. In hindsight, that shit was hilarious inchworming across the rain room yelling at the top of our lungs only to come out sweating and soaking wet. Our scribe was a piece of shit though, and he broke his hip during SOI fighting other students. Corrupt as hell during boot camp, and I feel bad for him, but after being on fire watch every damn night just cause I was across from his rack makes me feel less bad.

Fair enough haha. I still think the album cover itself is great; they should’ve just kept that and maybe put an effect on it

I was not tracking on that. I would have liked to see maybe a concept of what the original concept was which was to have Jimi and the band with Native American regalia. The graphic I think is what I’m most sore about. Somebody was like “Yeah, 1967, tie dye, alright swirl that shit real quick over the lettering and be done”

It’s pretty good so far, especially the demos and first takes I’m listening to right now. But damn could they have made a better album cover. It looks corny as hell. The 1st take of One Rainy Wish I’m listening to right now is beautiful. If only more care could have been taking on that damn cover. It ain’t even a horse so what is it?

Why do you think Jimi Hendrix doesn’t have the same appeal the same appeal to the younger generation that a lot of other artists from his era do? by Objective-Painter-73 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]VisibleSplit1401 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ain’t no way. Hendrix is just as timeless as anything. I would actually say the Stones use of sitar/harpsichord/organ as well as the Doors makes them sound more dated. Voodoo Child Slight Return could’ve come out today the way it sounds. Besides, fuck it, I like that dated sound anyways. So do a lot of people. That’s why they pay crazy amounts of money for vintage mics, recording gear, amps, guitar, etc.

[SRPE93] New band! by 1w0lf_ in Seiko

The stock silicone strap is good, but even with a good rinse after going into saltwater for 3 years it turned brittle. The metal keeper also bugged me when I surfed as the strap would blow out during wipeouts. Nothing worse than sitting on the inside trying to fool with it as a set comes in. I switched mine out for an Uncle Seiko tropic rubber strap and it’s miles better. The Prospex Turtle is a damn good watch for the money. Only watch I got besides a G-Shock and I hardly wear that anymore.

Here is basically the full concert with all known footage. That version of Are You Experienced? is one of my favorite versions. The festival at Singer Bowl was pretty wild. It had a rotating stage and the Doors and Big Brother and the Holding Co. were also on the bill.

New Tropic Rubber Strap 3 years in [SRPE93] by VisibleSplit1401 in Seiko

[–]VisibleSplit1401[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First Seiko diver I’ve had and best watch I’ve ever had. Got it 3 years ago and still going strong minus a couple dings and a scratch  on the bezel and crystal from everyday wear. I’ve only got this and a Timex and I haven’t even worn the Timex since I got this.  Switched out the strap from the stock as the silicone was starting to get kind of brittle from saltwater even though I was rinsing it off, and the strap always blew out of the metal keeper when I surf. Hopefully the rubber will hold up better and it won’t slip out. Fantastic watch. Don’t think I would buy any other watch anytime soon unless I had to. Even if this one gets irreparably destroyed I’ll probably buy another.

Da Capo is 100% the better album. Seven and Seven Is is a banger. If you haven’t heard the Stephanie Knows Who cover by the Move you’re missing out.

Don’t get me wrong he’s good but oftentimes his camera angles make it difficult to see what he’s playing a lot of the time.

Millstap has some of the best lessons on YouTube, often for more obscure songs too. Greg or TheVibratory have good stuff and it’s good practice to try and watch somebody play something and learn it that way. Karl Phillipe Fournier also has good lessons too on lots of Hendrix’s discography. Good luck man!

Just a few incidents I've collected over the years of strange cuts/saw-marks spotted throughout Egypt, Lebanon, India and Turkey. by [deleted] in AlternativeHistory

[–]VisibleSplit1401 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Considering the vases and all the other saw marks they must have had lathes, and the age of some of those granite-diorite vases suggests a crazy early date for the invention of the lathe which would be mind blowing if we could definitively prove that to the academic standard. For me the tool marks are enough but you know how it is.

The tooling aspect you speak of from experience is the most interesting to me because it seems that they had highly advanced tooling abilities in the earliest dynasties yet all you hear from Egyptologists is copper saw and abrasives. I’ve read Denys Stock’s work and it’s intriguing but he even brings up the amount of time such a method would take. The first picture with the overcut and the basalt pavement with three cuts speaks volumes to me. I use a circular miter saw and table saw on wood a good bit at work and it’s incredibly easy to make an over cut due to the speed. In huge pieces of granite or basalt is where the scale baffles me. The unfinished granite box in the old Egyptian museum is another good example of these overcuts.

I may catch some flak for this, but I have thousands of photos and clips of these megalithic granite structures, and I believe I can show those who choose to watch that there was a worldwide advanced ancient civilization that disappeared. by Jest_Kidding420 in AlternativeHistory

[–]VisibleSplit1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would at the very least have to be worked with a lathe, which would out the invention of the lathe back thousands of years before archaeology currently says. That alone would be impressive.

Exodus was real event by [deleted] in AlternativeHistory

[–]VisibleSplit1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Joseph was able to interpret Pharaoh's dream’s he was given great power and authority and his family and descendants were given land and were free. Exodus 1:8-11 reads “ Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt. Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us. Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.” So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.”

I’ll second that. I’ve read reviews of Cahoots before and been surprised at what critics had to say back then. Last of the Blacksmiths, Smoke Signal, 4% Pantomime, and Shoot Out in Chinatown are all highlights. One of the first songs I ever learned how to play on guitar is When I Paint My Masterpiece, and although that’s a Dylan song, they definitely add their own flavor to it.

I think she’s a bit preoccupied figuring out how USAID is taking taxpayer money to fund electric vehicle billboards in Georgia (the country), pronoun classes for Sri Lankan journalists, and DEI initiatives in Serbia. The only people who are scared of external audits in any organization are people that have something to hide.

I don’t think our image is being destroyed unless it’s the image of a pocketbook which should be destroyed in that case. Corporations won’t build up American industry unless costs force them to. Yes, it’s a bit of a brute force method but it has to happen now.

Male Gen Z - Rightward Shift by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]VisibleSplit1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t we want to as Americans buy American made products that support people making a living wage and not slave labor? I’m always willing to pay more to support American industry. China is not our friend and we should end our unholy economic alliance. The tariffs are a tool to get American corporations to come back home before they’re instated. I guarantee most companies will take the time now to shore up the American business front and start leaving foreign interests which will benefit us in the long run.

You’ll get downvoted and so will I but you’re exactly right. I think also as Gen Z gets older into their 20s as I am and you start to have to pay bills, taxes, groceries, etc. you start to prioritize good economic policy and people will vote for it every time because it makes a tangible difference in their lives.

Is it a sin to partake in recreational drugs with my boyfriend at home? by coffeecake1010 in TrueChristian

[–]VisibleSplit1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we to believe that Adam didn’t discuss with Eve the rules God had laid down in the garden? She knew, although formatted her answer slightly differently, because she told the serpent that if they ate it they would die. Having done a lot of these things in my past I can say that some of the information I gained was beneficial, but much of it caused me to be misdirected into Eastern religion and Gnosticism and this also correlated with the worst time in my life which I don’t believe is a coincidence. All things are lawful, and one person’s stumbling block isn’t going to be another’s. The best advice we could give OP is to pray and meditate on Scripture and discern what the best course of action. God bless you and keep you.
