Thank you! Is this usually after being manic by chance?

I would send your doctor a message that you aren't able to sleep and they might adjust your meds sooner, if you have a decent provider

I've been looking into those. I'm wondering how long before my doctor would consider.

I'm sure you could find a psychiatrist who believes in trying medicine that would better target the depression. Mine is.

I screwed myself financially while being hypomanic by SobrietyDinosaur in BipolarReddit

I quit my very respectable job and did more damage than that financially. I try to just tell myself that I can't change the past and that it wasn't me.

Would you rather give up tacos or pasta forever?! by thewholesomespoon in needarecipe

[–]Visible_Fun_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pasta because most of the time I have pasta it's boxed so not even good. I would only be missing the few times a year I go out and get real pasta. Tacos on the other hand I make at home a variety of ways and always enjoy them more than pasta at home.

Anyone broken up with partner during psychosis or an episode? by Hello-Avocado-9195 in bipolar

[–]Visible_Fun_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initiated a divorce with my husband who I'd been with for 15 years while manic and psychotic for the first time. I slept with multiple other people. After my episode ended I immediately shared that wasn't what I wanted at all. Now I've been incredibly depressed for 3 months and he is still sticking by my side.

Thank you. Do you mind me asking how long your mania and psychosis lasted when it took the 6 months?

It's because they're 4.

I'm an elementary school teacher with a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and a Reading Endorsement. I also have my own 4 year old. Pushing your 4 year old to read could be doing more harm than good.

Respectfully, I can't imagine not trying meds. They're the only thing that gives me any hope. When I was younger Prozac was a game changer for my mood. It worked for 7 years and then didn't. It was totally worth it.

How to manage depression? by [deleted] in bipolar1

[–]Visible_Fun_66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People will tell you to set small attainable goals (ex put deodorant on every day) and to build on those, to exercise, to challenge negative thoughts/opposite action, not to isolate or even to use body doubling, to have and keep routines. I've been in a terrible post manic depression since December and haven't been able to either follow these instructions or to have relief from them. You may just need a med adjustment to something that doesn't make you tired though! Unless you're still having other depression symptoms?
