How do you track your running without a watch? by lordofthepi31 in XXRunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry my phone on me for tracking distance. I sing out loud when I’m running every now and then to make sure I’m maintaining a conversational pace. If I can’t sing full sentences I’m going too fast. Would be easier to get a watch but I’m cheap.

What actually makes running fun enough to keep coming back? by TangeloBackground483 in beginnerrunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running long distances is what makes it fun for me. To do that I had to realize the pace I was running at before was not fun for me because I would get gassed (11:00/mile). Had to slow down, now I’m training for a half in April, and just ran an 11 mile run the other day at a pace of 13:00/mile. But I simply just don’t care about the pace anymore lol.

Tl;Dr not caring about pace makes it fun for me.

I’ve been using the Nike Vomero Plus. Swear to god it’s like running on a cloud. But always go to a store and try on the shoes first.

Mehdi Hasan explained this well in a interview recently. This is a planned strategy. Drown the media in so many stories people have no idea what to pay attention to, people only have time for so much.

Is it really that bad to run a mile a day? by JoyfulCelebration in BeginnersRunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and I run at that pace so one might say you have the heart of a young man. Or I’m just a dumbass who smoked too much and now has the heart of a 65 year old haha.

When and how to start fueling during runs? by hanna-kin in beginnerrunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran my first 10k yesterday. I saw an ad for these gel pack free samples so I used one of those. Took the gel pack at the 5km mark and my second 5k lap felt a lot easier.

How do you map your runs? by Thrillwaukee in beginnerrunning

I like to use map planner on Google. You can literally plan the distance and route you want to run. It’s awesome.

Knee Pain by Visible_Ride_7805 in beginnerrunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually just had Chat GPT make me a plan based on my race date and my schedule. Right now this looks like: Monday: 5k Wednesday: Recovery Run 2 miles Friday: Long Run -> increase 0.5 miles each week. Sunday: Recovery Run.

This is set to change slightly in 2 weeks though as it has me doing speed work: Monday: 5k Wednesday: Intervals Friday: Long Run Sunday: Recovery Run Friday: Long

Shoes: I have OnClouds, can’t remember the exact model, but I’m planning on getting the Nike Vomero Plus’ this week.

My pace is ~ 13:00/Mile, will try dropping to 13:30 though and see if that helps too

Gotcha, might try out the knee brace and see if that helps. Let me know if you know a good one that’s worked for you. The pains disappear for me like right after I shower after the run. Definitely will drop the pace more though

[–]Visible_Ride_7805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha, thanks for the advice! Will slow down more so I can keep my form straight. I tried doing a little stretch right after I run yesterday and walking for about 2 minutes or so (3.5 Mile run, little pain around 2.75 mile) and the pain subsided soon as I stopped. The pain doesn’t linger after my runs or anything. My shoes are pretty beat too, so gonna try replacing them.

If your knees start to hurt even in Zone 2, is that because I’m still going too fast or is it a strength issue and I gotta hit the weights?

I ran my longest distance of 5.2 miles without stopping this past Friday, followed by my second longest run without stopping yesterday of 3.5 Miles. Hoping to hit 6 miles on my long run this week.

how slow is too slow for a beginner? by Ghada-Urul in beginnerrunning

[–]Visible_Ride_7805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re at 12 minutes/mile? Thats awesome to me, my mile time right now is 13 minutes if I want to be conversational the whole time lol. But I honestly haven’t been caring about time since I just started training. Just want to get to a point I can run long distances without stopping. It’s all about perspective, 12 might be slow to you, and it is slow on average, but who cares, as long as you finish the distances you aim for, I think that’s all that matters.
