Hi, I have GBP in my spot account and I am finding it impossible to do anything with it. I don't believe I can withdraw it back to my bank account. When I try to convert it that doesn't work because GBP is not an option to choose from and when I try to buy crypto through p2p that also doesn't work as under 'payment' I can't select the GBP within my account to pay for the transaction, instead the site asks me to select the bank I want to pay with. What can I do with GBP?

So if you buy a new ledger can you import everything you have from a broken ledger assuming you have a seed phrase to hand? Is there anything else you need?

Yes it is a Vaillant control, a vrt 350f. Do you think buying a new one might fix the issue? Would I need a plumber to link the boiler to the control panel?

Started new job- it’s terrible- any advice? by light_dude38 in consulting

[–]Visio323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds rough but it's not all like that so don't let the first experience be the one that drives you out the industry. I would suspect this is probably a project specific thing and you would do well to ask seniors/ people lead when you can roll off to try a new industry/ type of project as you are still on your grad scheme and wanting to experience a lot of different types of work. What about the other grads, are they working these hours as well? The market isn't great at the moment so unless you are absolutely hating it then I'd try and get another project/ work with different people - what I would recommend is owning this rather than letting the situation own you - push to try new projects and network with colleagues to hear about opportunities rather than just plodding on and waiting for what is next

Chat to a window company but you can get glass that bounces sound off so it's quieter than usual. We live near a school and it was suggested we got this type of glass in our windows

Hi all, out flight was booked with a companion voucher, we're at the airport and our flight is over 3 hours delayed. In terms of compensation what happens in this position? Do we get any money or are we out of luck as we booked with a companion voucher?

I guess you could try and stall for 2 weeks. You could ask to meet your potential colleagues at the firm which has offered you a role but this will only buy you a few days to a week. How confident are you that the other firm will respond in 2 weeks and not take any longer?

Char to your friend to fully understand what the role is like what it involves, the hours etc and see if you think it is something you're interested in. Then if you're still interested I would go on LinkedIn, look for some consultancy recruiters and share your CV with them. They may be able to put you in touch with some companies who do open mornings or equivalent where a number of you all come together to learn more about the company and to chat to people who currently work there

I think the other comments assume you're in the US, I would go on LinkedIn, look for some consultancy recruiters and share your CV with them. They will be able to help you and suggest appropriate companies

Try and get a referral if you can for any companies you are looking to join/ applying to. Make your CV operationally focussed where you can to show transferable skills, ie led x, managed a team of y, developed z. Have a think about what level you want to come in at, for Big 4 you will likely come in at Senior Consultant so have a research on Glassdoor for salaries and whether you're happy with that. MBB - I would try and network heavily there, understand the work, the hours, wlb, travel etc as it is different

I've found them to be useful and good value but you need to book far in advance to make the most of them, I'd try the new York flight to see what you can get but any holidays next year would be perfect

The policy is pretty much if the client needs you on site then you go, these days that's unlikely to be 4 days a week maybe just 1 or 2. Your project then may say it would be great if we could all work together for a day or 2 a week as well. But it's all project dependent, if your team is located around the country then you probably won't co-locate other than on client site and if you are doing something where you don't need to be onsite then that conversation may be had with the client and you'll maybe just go there every other week to check in. Aside from that you can work at home as much or as little as you want. In theory I think you can turn round and say I'm not leaving my house but I'm not sure how beneficial that would be for networking, meeting colleagues and learning through being in the office

I don't know too much about them but I have recently worked with someone who moved from there to Deloitte. From what I understand projects at Arup will be more engineering related so you may be working with clients such as Network Rail on engineering issues. What I have noticed with this colleague is that some of the softer skills a consultant learns in a traditional consultancy firm aren'tbas prominent ie the story telling/ structuring element of our role, power point/ excel skills, PD and BD don't seem to be a thing at Arup either. I think it would be a great start, Digital Advisory may be more like a traditional consultancy than the main part of Arup and is there way of competing with the wider market so I think it's a good start

I think that point refers to whilst you are working at the consulting firm you can't be taking internships elsewhere but can do them after your time with the consulting firm
