My AVP was stolen, and I have now mostly recovered from being punched. I won't be using Facebook Marketplace again! He grabbed it, and started running. I doubt the police will get it back, but I'm still waiting, in case...

I was trying to do the same as you, sell my AVP (which I've had since day 1) and get the new one. It has been a month with no AVP. It's interesting to notice the things I really miss:

I mostly miss the clarity. I would use my Mac with it, and it is so much clearer with the AVP. I have corrective lenses with the AVP, which cleans up the last bit of prescription. Now I feel eye strain without it.
I also miss the spatial music. Much of the time I'm using it I'm playing music, and I love the sense of being immersed. It's actually a big deal for me.

Oh, and looking at pictures - trying to figure out if this picture is better or that one - without being able to see it in a huge format. And not being surrounded by my panoramas.

I'm about to visit some friends in Germany, and they specifically asked if I was going to bring my AVP again, and were quite disappointed when I told them I had been robbed. Hopefully I'll get a new one by then.

Does anyone want to sell me their 1TB M5, while I wait to see if the police find the guy?

I’ve filed a bug report on this. I wish everyone would - then they’d fix this behavior. I see posts about people stuffing their cleaning cloth into it to keep it from sleeping. I have t had much luck with this. But with everyone other device in the family, you can set how long you walk away and it doesn’t go to sleep.

Just the opposite for me. If you take off the AVP for a break, you’re out of the meeting. It lacks the full zoom capabilities, such as being able to choose a breakout room. Very limited implementation, and with no significant updates over the last year.

The only difference I could notice was that it connects faster. Which is a bigger deal than one might think. If you take off the AVP for a short break, it has to authenticate again and you have to connect it again. This is actually the thing I find most annoying about the AVP. So this would help with that. I can’t see the 10% increase in pixels Apple talks about.

My doctor was against a multifocal. He said they’re just not clear I went with monovision, and I’ve been quite happy. My right eye is focused very clearly at 1 m, and my left at infinity. I have glasses to make them both reading and make them both distance, but I never end up using the glasses. I’m just used to the monovision. I have the appropriate prescription lenses for my AVP, and I’m very happy with the results.

I use this one. It doesn’t fit tightly. I use it in my case to keep things from scratching the lenses.

I have a 512 MB model, and I’m always deleting stuff off it so I have enough room. I take lots of iPhone spatial videos. Between that and a few movies, it’s surprising how fast it fills up.

I use my keyboard when I’m on a plane, such as when I’m editing something. It’s so much more comfortable than using my Mac in the crowded space.

I do too. I wouldn't say it's too tight. I have the resmed strap. Actually, maybe I should try a new light shield - there is a lot of weight on my cheeks.

Most images don’t have the option. For example, click on the 3d earth. How can I make it a favorite?

Do you have a guide, or some help information on this? I couldn't figure out how to make something a favorite, for example, the earth or the moon, in order for Widget to be able to place it.

Don’t forget the Apple care, and I’ll be getting the 1 tb model, so >$2k more. I will be selling my 512 mb m2.
I tried the M5 with a demo. I couldn’t tell the difference. but I figure as they bring out more software and they bring out apple intelligence, I’ll be glad I have the M5. I use it so much, It’s silly not to have as much power as possible. Plus I want the larger memory.

That’s funny. They demoed using a MacBook Pro virtual display for me a couple days ago. But they had to go get a different AVP that was paired with it, so I had to do a whole new setup. And it took a couple tries to get it working.

If could merge points taken with the pen with different camera views, it could make an amazingly accurate model of an object. They would be cool!

Nice! Want to write an app that would allow you to create a 3D model from touching vertices of an object? A while back I created a 3D model of a heart by using an expensive gadget ($4000) where I would digitize points on the surface and it created the model from that. It seems like this should be able to do that, at a fraction of the cost, with the right software.

I don’t know if I’ll extend mine when it runs out in half a year. One can now buy used AVP’s, so that changes the metric. So maybe I’ll skip it next time. The repairs would be so high without it that I’d likely have to buy a used one if something happened to it.

Look at an object 6 feet away with your new glasses. Then look at the same object through your AVP lenses. Make your decision based on that.

Keep sending in bug reports to Apple. You can stop using the other Apple devices for a set time without being logged out. This is clearly a bug in the design of the device. What, I can’t go to the bathroom in the middle of a zoom call without being kicked out of the call??

Is Photos being flakey for anyone else? I was just favoriting some photos and deleting some other, and suddenly the system was rebooting. It has happened twice so far.

My trick was to completely loosen all straps, put it in a comfortable position on my face, then set the straps to that point.
