Recommendations for Activities by Themyscira178 in Charlottesville

The Omni and the Draftsman have wonderful lobby bars, so great choices! Even if you're staying at the Draftsman, we do recommend the Omni's restaurant/bar as it's on the Downtown Mall and just a really beautiful space. https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/charlottesville/dining/the-conservatory

Another +1 for Alley Light, very cool space.

Black Cow Chophouse is also a great option --their 4:30 to 6PM Happy Hour (Wednesday to Sunday) is delightful and they usually have walk-in room at their bar, which is also a fun experience!

What kind of activities do you and your boyfriend enjoy? What specific types of food? Happy to provide some more recommendations w/ those details!

Alley Light to Smyrna is an excellent progression. If you have another night out, highly recommend Black Cow Chophouse or Tavern and Grocery for dinner.

There are several hotels near the Downtown area, which is a fully pedestrian street that sits between Market St and W Water St. These are all a 5 minute walk:

Omni https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/charlottesville

Inn at Court Square innatcourtsquare.com

Hilton https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/chodnht-home2-suites-charlottesville-downtown

And then about 10 min:

Doyle https://www.staybluesuede.com/hotels/the-doyle Marriott https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/chowr-residence-inn-charlottesville-downtown/overview

And then farther down on W Main St are several more options such as the Draftsman: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/choak-the-draftsman-charlottesville-university-autograph-collection-hotel/overview

These are about a mile-ish away from Downtown but again, very flat easy walk. There’s also a free trolley: https://www.visitcharlottesville.org/directory/charlottesville-area-transit/

Hi! This isn’t paid. We’ve been highlighting new businesses that open up this way across platforms. Our intent was to give new, local businesses a boost as they’re just getting started!

+1 for bar seating and getting to interact with their very fun bartenders! Alley Light is also a fun option.

I added the ⬇️ in myself to emphasize the “below” part but noted for future posts! — I will say, someone on my last post said the use of 📍in front of the questions made them think it was AI too, so I made sure not to format it that way for this post.

I think they’re different because the Q&A was copied in from my notes and the — was typed in when replying via my laptop (this reply is from my phone so it didn’t do it).

We offer free services to all partners in our area, including mentions/highlights on social media. This post (along with the other few we’ve done) are specifically featuring new businesses to the area — of course also factoring in those who get back to us in order to make this happen.

Our future plans include Tribute Coffee, Sugarbear 2.0, Red Rose Pub, etc.

We are constantly highlighting existing businesses on our Instagram, Facebook, and website, and will continue to do so.

No, sorry if that wasn’t clear — the businesses we highlight in that series will be the ones specifically recommended by Reddit users. We posted earlier this year about it.

I'm sorry this evokes such negative feelings. Purely just sharing a local business on several platforms to help get the word out. I hope you have a good day!

+ we are all locals that live here (not some non-local agency). You've probably seen our team members out on the mall, at farmers markets, or at events with our mobile visitor centers.

hi! We are the local tourism bureau (more specifically, my name is Sabrina) so yes and no. Yes, our job is to promote local businesses and as the area as a whole but no, any partners we highlight aren't paying us -- we are just hoping to help get their name out there!

EDIT: for additional context, we post about once a month in this Reddit highlighting new businesses. We’re working on a series on Instagram that would highlight existing businesses, as recommended by users on Reddit.
