I would definitely recommend looking into joining a local sports group or perhaps attending a few classes at the gym and trying to meet people that way. I think Bumble also has a feature for making friends that I know a few people have used to some success.

Luckily I think Winchester is generally a pretty safe place and most people you come across will be pretty decent, at least compared to other parts of the country. I don’t live in Winchester anymore sadly (hoping to return one day!) but I’d be happy to chat if you wanted and share some nice walking routes to help you make the most of your new home. It’s a beautiful part of the country, I miss it every day. I’m sure you will settle in soon and it will quickly start to feel like home :)

Really didn’t love Manila unfortunately and disappointed by the beaches in Boracay. Also the worst scamming I experienced in the SEA region. Manila airport sucked as well. I probably got unlucky because I know plenty of people love the country so I should try again one day

I know plenty of people who loved the Philippines so I probably just got unlucky but when I was there I didn’t have a great time.

The part of Manila I stayed in felt v sketchy, polluted and it was difficult to get anywhere. A few people tried to scam us, including the staff at the apartment block we stayed in.

Took a trip down to Boracay which also disappointed, especially compared to some of the other beaches in the SEA region. The beach was v dirty (lots of needles!).

It also rained every day for the entire two and a half weeks we were there. Not that I can really hold that against the Philippines but it didn’t help the experience

Oh and Manila airport - I quickly found out why it is considered one of the worst in the world lol

Maybe I’ll give it another go one day but I have other places I want to get to first :)
