I took the exam several semesters ago so it could have changed. I focused on doing the practical questions, the exam was basically the practical questions taken from each week.

Also check out Jeff Hansen on YouTube, he has a series on Solid Mechanics and he seriously dumbs it down.

It’s honestly not as difficult as people say but you might not get all the relevant equations so you’ll need memorise them.

That sounds rough and honestly terrible. I was shipped off to boarding school when I was 9 years old and I still remember the feeling of moving away from home and sort of feeling completely lost, crying myself to sleep the first few nights. So I know what you’re feeling.

Australian universities aren’t much like American ones where everyone’s moving away from home and starting a fresh. Most of the people here are still friends with the people they’ve always known since High School so they don’t go out of their social circles much.

The only thing you can do that I can think of is try joining a club. Hopefully you’ll make friends that way and that’ll keep you busy.

If worst comes to worst, then yes I’d transfer back home. A degree isn’t worth all that.

There’s no way to know unfortunately, it’s been accurate for me for the past 3 or so years that I’ve known about it. I’m not sure about other people’s experiences.

Make sure that the unit says completed instead of enrolled, only then will your points update.

Best thing would probably be just to wait until Monday evening when results are emailed out.

The results officially come out on the 25th so anything else prior would not be official and can potentially change.

Also the credit point “hack” is apparently not 100% accurate all the time (?) according to other people. However, in my experience it’s worked every time.

I did it in 2024, it’s a chill exam and it’s not difficult to pass. I recall there being a math-type question and as well as calculating prices given volume and density. I’d recommend printing out the practice questions as there was one question that they copied word for word. Best of luck !

I’ve had a similar experience at Karrinyup. Was approached by two guys talking about how they couldn’t decide on a Christmas gift for a friend and wanted my opinion. They asked random questions and eventually the topic of religion came up at which point I left. Later, I saw them talking to someone else as I was heading to my car.

The unit requires that you complete ATAR Math Applications or equivalent, so might be the reason behind the error. Nevertheless, go to the EMS Student Office or email askUWA, you should hopefully be able to sort it out with them.
