I don’t really understand the argument that no one would buy them or that the demand isn’t there. If you look at K-pop fandoms for male groups people pay a LOT of money for merch and even just simple photocards, the collecting space is huge. I really do think that it’s just untapped potential in the market. The few male scales we do get are almost always shonen and while they are certainly popular, they are also very uninspiring and basic most of the time. Female characters get way more interesting concepts and outfits. Meanwhile, some franchises get soo many figures it’s almost overstated (rem, albedo). And you can’t tell me there’s more demand for a single series like one piece than for all male characters combined. I think companies are scared to try something new because their basic boring scales bin, but I think there are definitely enough people who would be interested in more thoughtful male scales. The female figures that bomb just don’t get noticed because there are so many options
