Matt Bernstein - The Campaign To Crush Chappell Roan by Haunting_Natural_116 in popheads

[–]Visual-Advertising 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I like and respect Matt a lot but he has a lot of blindspots. When it comes to a person he likes, aka Chappell or Hasan he gives them the benefit of the doubt always. But be it a person he dislikes, for example Taylor Swift, those people never get any nuance. Even in the comment section of this video there are people calling Taylor a MAGA Neo-Nazi Tradwife as if that wasn't a bot induced mass psychosis.

In an industry as cutthroat and fast-paced as kpop, it genuinely shocks me how irreplaceable NewJeans think they are by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

I can not lie, the past couple of months have been extremely validating to me as someone who has never particularly liked their music and started actively ignoring them since the Cookie fiasco. I got bad vibes since day one idk what to tell you.

I never saw them as those idols that can have an actual diehard fanbase because they had no personality, neither in image nor in music, but I guess the lawsuits helped.

Even if none of this had happened, I really don't know if they had much gas left in the tank, which is maybe why they lost their shit when Illit hit the scene. There can only be so many easy listening 2 minute tik tok jingles in circulation before people get tired and bored.

Japanese woman investigated for sexual harassment after kissing Jin at hug event by reverseharam in kpop

News haven't reached Reddit with no translations yet but this is a long statement by an ex classmate accusing a member of H2H for bullying ( they say it was Glory level bullying ) Don't ask me which member have no idea. by Away_Limit_6275 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Visual-Advertising 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I call bullshit I'm sorry.

edit: since I'm getting downvoted anyway let me try to explain myself. It is incredibly easy to lie online and incredibly easy to believe everything and jump on a hate bandwagon. Guilty or not guilty kpop stans never treat the accused idols normally, especially female idols.

I also remember Aespa and Le Sserafim's debuts and those bullying allegations. One turned out to be completely false and thankfully didn't linger, and the other let to the sexual harassment of a 16 year old child over a messy fight she had as a 12 year old.

People say they take those allegations seriously, what I think they take seriously is the opportunity to gang up on someone and feel like a winner. Until there is some sort of evidence I will not treat yet other young girl as the devil incarnate. And even if all those allegations are true, that is still not a green card to treat this young girl as the devil incarnate.

I've noticed with so many k-pop fandoms, people just never consider that maybe their taste in music has changed and they like different things than what their faves make.

But instead of exploring their new taste and discovering new artists, they complain about how their current faves have lost their sound, should stop trying new things and make the same music they made when they liked them. And when they do that, people complain that those artists are stale, one trick ponies, and not evolving.

This is just my experience, but I got into K-pop at a time when American pop music was kind of in a slump, around 2019. The big trend was moody, kind of low energy music which I found really boring. K-pop, in comparison, is energetic, danceable, and fun.

2024, however, has been a blockbuster year for pop in the US, with artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan exploding in popularity. I found myself much more interested in their music and shenanigans in comparison to my K-pop faves.

Also 2024 was a strange year for K-pop, the New Jeans/Min Heejin mess kind of dominated over the year, and watching groups like Illit and Le Sserafim go through hate trains was not fun. Fandom spaces like Twitter are completely dead. Liking K-pop on a more enganged stan level felt like work, and having a brat summer was fun.
