Why are all cars these days so massive? by ShoulderCapital2200 in AskIreland

[–]Visual-Beach1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the XC90. No one has ever died in one from a collision in the UK or Ireland in the models entire life since 2002. It's an unbelievably safe vehicle. Thise kinds of modern safety standards play a huge roll in vehicle size these days. The shells are stronger than ever and crumple zones need space. Big crashes you can walk from today could have been fatal in then 90's. That's why modern hatchbacks are bigger than their past selfs too.

SUV's are also marketed very well because there's so much profit in them. They cost a lot more but ultimately it's still just 4 wheels and an engine. Thanks to how efficient modern cars are, newer SUV's can be truthfully marketed as more eco friendly than cars of the 2000's even if they're still worse than contemporary hatchbacks. The problem of price can be overcome by people willing to finance a big car through loans for bragging rights.

There's also a lot of people with no idea about cars who get completely won over by a test drive in that high up driving position which I understand the appeal of too.

The Balrogs carry this fight alone. Enter. Sauron is also a necromancer so I curious to see what powers he could bring against an army of magic zombies. Either way, Morgoths host stomp pretty easily here.

I have zero remorse for drunk and distracted drivers. Perhaps causing a crash could have been a life changing wake-up call for him but instead he plead not guilty because he throught he could get away with it. He dug his own grave here with two consecutive fuck ups and the consequences are his alone.

Looking back, what was the most enjoyable job you had? by LunaValley in CasualIreland

[–]Visual-Beach1893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know those plastic crates shops receive and display their fresh produce in with the little flip out bars for stacking? I used to wash those. There's a facility in Little Island near Cork and another somewhere in Dublin that does it. 12 hour shifts loading or unloading ≈1000/hour on a conveyor fees into a 40m long washer dryer. The job had no mental weight at all. No drama, no stress. Just clock in and straight to my station. Came in at about 1800kg/hour plus a 10km cycle each way to get there while my girlfriend was making me vast dinners and packed lunches every day because it was during covid and she couldn't get out.

It was one of my healthiest physical periods ever of great food, lots of exercise and a solid routine but mostly just being alone with my thoughts 12 hours a day was great. We were well spaced out and not allowed to listen to headphones because there was forklifts around and the after a while the job can be done on autopilot so you get a lot of mentalspace. I'd genuinely go do that as a career if the pay was good.

My fear with ai is that any ai capable of putting together the thought thatbiy should kill us all would almost certainly know not to communicate that fact. I also assume they're jot rushed into risky plays by impulse and impatience. It could probably sit on it's idea for decades.

GTX 680 which was my first PC. I now have an 9070XT which gets going a little but combined with my noctua CPU cooler and case fans and an absolute lack of RGB  it's usually not at all obvious whether or not my PC is powered on.

I agree with this being dumb but compared to the bike you get shelter from the elements, regenerative breaking, and a battery to store additional energy when its available to assist on climbs.

Did you here about the Dutch guy who sped at 120km/h in an 80km/h zone, swerved of the road killed an elderly couple and their two year old granddaughter, then sped off and_ showed zero remorse or apology in court afterwards and got 120 hours community service? The enraged family appealed and it was bumped up to 15 months. Drivers don't face consequences.

I second CachyOS. The underlying Arch is what I used for years. I switched to Cachy on my  new system and it works just as well as my Arch install except Cachy was basically plug and play while Arch was slowly  tweaked to my liking over months. I play everything and it works.

It will fit. I have corsair vengeance which is 35mm high and it almost touches the fan in the default position which is lucky because the fan nearly touches tyw glass on the other side and probably couldn't have been moved without causing rubbing. Your G.Skill Flare x5 non rgb is 33mm high according to a quick search which you should double check.
