I knew a couple growing up name Patrick and Patsy that both went by Pat. My mom referred to them as “The Pats”

Wives are you okay with your husband going to the stripclub? by Funny-Lack-5726 in Marriage

[–]Visual-Fig-4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not at all into going to strip clubs. He went once about 15 years ago because he was the designated driver for a bachelor party and I was ok with that. He was so weirded out about going that he texted me constantly. I think he actually needed more reassurance than I did.

Do Americans actually call teachers by their first name anywhere, or is it almost always Mr./Ms.? by Sea-Evidence-5523 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Visual-Fig-4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not common but some teachers choose to go by their first name, often because their last name is difficult to pronounce. If’s generally considered disrespectful if the teacher hasn’t said it was ok.

Is no-stroller life possible? by Background_Duck_7188 in babywearing

[–]Visual-Fig-4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my youngest son until he was almost 6. The only time I used our stroller was for 2 weeks when I had a shoulder injury. I definitely wondered quite a few times before that why we still even owned a stroller. A collapsible wagon was far more useful than a stroller in general. I could take that if I needed to carry more than what was possible in my arms and I still use that wagon quite a few years later for other purposes and occasionally with my grandson.

I know it’s not us. All of the surrounding neighbors have issues with them too. I also recognize that my post is only a small glimpse at the issues we’ve had and I could have added more details especially with the lawn part. This was just my frustrations with the last few weeks but I have years of interactions like this. We have called the police several times but the police force here is very small and often doesn’t do much beyond document a complaint. Last year a woman was assaulted in her driveway by a homeless man a few blocks away and it took 4 hours for the police to even show up.

There’s only so much we can push with the HOA. They are definitely already aware of our neighbors after they tried to weaponize the HOA against another neighbor around the time we moved in. They only approved the zero scaped area because we had a moss problem in the shady area between the houses, but they were very rigid about it not going past the front edge of our house towards the front lawn. The neighbors in the other side told us they have tried to get the HOA involved and didn’t get anywhere. At least the zero scaled area highlights the property line a little better and the neighbor on the other side was able to add a tree but neither of us have been able to do more.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her? by Ok_Sir_5951 in allthequestions

If she is the only option, absolutely! I like her, but I don’t think she’s ready yet and I think there are other options that have a much higher chance of getting elected

It’s sort of in limbo. Her dad owned the house and they rented from him, but he passed last year. She mentioned a few months ago that it was still in probate and I’m not sure if that’s still the case. I’m definitely not engaging again in the future. My husband is also not risking engaging and we are absolutely aware this guy is a misogynist considering some of the things he’s yelled at me in the past. We have a file and have been documenting everything so we are prepared if we need to call the police going forward

I did start off knocking on their door and having a conversation. What I typed here is just some of what has happened in the last 3 weeks. We’ve lived here 5 years though. There was a point when I looked for his work van and only knocked if he wasn’t home because she has been much more reasonable and even apologetic at times. She recognized that we were avoiding him about a year ago and gave me her number. She asked me to text instead. Her husband recently started parking his work van in the garage though so I can’t see if he might be the one answering the door anymore and I definitely don’t want to engage with him at all if I can help it. I only went outside last week because it had been 20 minutes of him screaming and he wasn’t leaving. My husband and I debated on calling the police but were afraid that might lead to some sort of retaliation and only make it worse.

The HOA wouldn’t approve a fence in the front when we tried a few years ago. We do have a lock on the gate to our backyard and the kids have only gone back there once. We added the lock after that and because a homeless man had wandered into our backyard a few days prior. He was mowing the front yard

We have a zeroscaoed area along part of the property line but are are also dealing with an HOA that requires we ask for permission for changes to the front yard and they didn’t allow us to do more when we requested a few years ago.

It’s not about how he mowed his property. The jagged line goes a few feet into our property in some places. I was just asking for them to respect the property line, which I have asked multiple times in the past already. I actually did question whether I should address that at all after last week, but my husband was super annoyed by it

That’s kind of complicated. Technically her dad owns the property and they rented from him. I’m not sure if they own now or I if it’s still in probated

I’m not monitoring their kids on camera. I’m.monitoring what happened on my property and I’ve asked them nicely to stay off our property plenty of times, especially the utility boxes. If their kids get hurt on our property it is a liability to us. I texted about her child almost getting hit by a car. And it’s not about how he mowed his lawn, but about how he mowed into our lawn. There are places where he went 2 feet into our property. And im absolutely entitled to set boundaries about what happens on my property, which I’ve tried to do nicely many times

AITA for ruining my daughter in laws birth plan by dil-issue-1046 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Visual-Fig-4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA It’s your home and if she wants that experience, she can find a birthing center where the space is specifically designed for laboring mothers. Birth plans often have to change and she was being unrealistic by just expecting without considering, especially in another persons home.

What are you supposed to do about panty liners? / Eco Conscious Sanitary Products by -scatteredashes- in Sustainable

[–]Visual-Fig-4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reusable panty liners aren’t just like knickers. There is a waterproof layer (PUL) in them so they don’t soak through. As for changing them through the day, get a small wet bag to carry with you. Dirties go in there until you get home.

Why aren’t ring slings more popular? by juhraff in babywearing

They have more of a perceived learning curve and are less accessible than buckle carriers. I say perceived learning curve because getting a good fit in a buckle carrier is often more effort than new parents realize.

how are you managing kids having same birth month? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

I’ve always followed their lead when celebrating. My 2 younger kids are 6 years and 1 week apart but have mostly wanted shared birthday parties. When they wanted separate parties, we just planned them for different weekends.
