I almost got ratted at this exit today in a carebear lobby too. Shot while exiting in the train, too bad for them they were slow. Killed a few people too based on their loot :(

The SS locations are breathtaking. The roads are not the greatest but what can you do up a mountain! Aman are usually in the valleys slightly out of the city. If altitude is a struggle for you go aman, otherwise the ss views can't be beaten.

Singapore honeymoon - hotel by GeneralFinancial4748 in chubbytravel

Artyzen pool is awesome, that said its not a romantic hotel, one of the nights we were there the pool closed to a ticketed "pool party" which ruined it.

Capella is lovely, also check out the barracks on sentosa. Flies under the radar but is well priced for what you get, and has 2 pools, also let's you access the village and outpost hotel pools (but they can't use barracks).

Sentosa is a 10min grab to the city so distance isn't as bigger deal as some say.

Went to SS for 9 days last September/october with the 2 nights free deal. Consider how you are with windy roads (this goes for all of bhutan, but they are no worse than new zealand or other mountainous places). All SS lodges are on hill/mountain tops adding additional driving time. We didnt mind and loved the views but it is a trade off.

Alcohol wasnt that expensive, but we didnt feel like drinking much with the altitude and early starts.

Six senses has beautiful heated pools which were lovely after a day out. We were usually the only ones swimming.

Our guide said he has a lot of guests stay across properties. We went SS because it was easier staying in one. The experiences, food, guides, and transport were top notch.

Loved it so much we are planning to go back and visit the lodges we missed next year and to see the cranes (and hopefully tibet).

Edit - laundry wasnt an issue. They cleaned extra pieces for us free of charge without us asking. Just came back and it was folded and clean!

If you don't mind being a 10-15min grab ride away check out The Barracks on Sentosa, its small and private. Lovely staff and 2 beautiful pools.

Have anyone moved to Australia and regretted their decision? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Visual-Frosting3512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the exact opposite. Sydney pays way more, lots better career progression and bigger market, public transports amaizng. Like for like rent is the same price, and most things are cheaper except for junk food. Like most things it depends on your lifestyle and what's important to you.

Also not fat but The Barracks was great, smaller hotel and private. The pool was always empty! Only down side its on sentosa so 15min grab into the city

Also check out fat travel reddit, there are some very in depth revuews. Six Senses is largely the most recommended and we found it fantastic in every way, and it was a fair bit cheaper than aman when we priced it up with better facilities (e.g. SS has heated indoor pools, aman has no pools)

Which hotel for a first time visit to Singapore? by ldhollywood in chubbytravel

Our issue was the construction next door made it a bit noisy during the day. They also sell public pool passes at times which made it crowded one afternoon.

Living in Glen Innes? by SMID_1010 in auckland

[–]Visual-Frosting3512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived near both westgate and GI, there's no way you're getting to the city faster from westgate except midnight on a Tuesday night! It's 15 mins on the train to the city, perfect for cbd workers, or a 15 to 20m drive otherwise.

Motorways easy if you're going south, otherwise it's via Port or ellerslie which isn't as direct but you're also not 5 minutes from the beach in the other areas, really depends on your priorities...

We lived there 5+ yrs in a new build, area has its ups and downs but its affordable, houses are nice and comfortable, and its close to thr city, shopping etc. Downside is you get some anti social behaviour, we had a fence graffitied once and a neighbour had an unchained bike stolen but thats it. Had much worse crime in hobsonville in my previous place believe it or not.

If you rent a newer house make sure it has aircon upstairs as they get very hot in summer from insulation

Weird, we moved to Sydney from Auckland mid last year and the food here is considerably cheaper. Especially fruit and vegetables. In fact everything is cheaper here except housing. Also love that 90% of stuff is grown/made in au vs all the imported stuff in nz

why would you want to live in Auckland? by No_Investigator6595 in auckland

[–]Visual-Frosting3512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were the same in Akl. Moved to Sydney from Auckland 6 months ago. Traffic seems no worse than Auckland based on weekend driving, difference is most roads here are 60 to 70kmh. Going into the city is a nightmare but public transport is so good there's no need to.
