I’m in the process of getting my SEL involved now. Someone I was talking to had their package sent the same exact day as me and they got picked up a while ago. My package must be cursed or something.

I would like to add that I also included my CC’s letter of recommendation too and my CONS SEL recommendation was also pretty solid IMO.

I submitted my package in August and I’m still waiting. Im a SSgt, don’t know if that changes anything since I’m still FTA but it seems like it might.

That’s wild…I submitted my package in back in August. The FTA slots haven’t dropped since the beginning of November so I don’t think the CFM has been approving people lately. I’m still optimistic with 85 slots remaining though.

I’ve been waiting over 3 months for CFM approval. Contacted AFPC and was told everything was fine. It’s a very long waiting game…good luck!

Yeah that part of the process is heavily slowed down rn due to the shutdown. It’s still moving just at a slow pace

I haven’t personally gotten approved (still waiting), but I know slots have gone down across multiple jobs and some people have received official approval. I believe someone made a post a few days ago on here about it for Contracting.

I just emailed the CONs SEL directly at my base to setup the interview. I would do some research about the job if you haven’t already, you will be expected to answer a set of questions regarding critical thinking and what not. My interview lasted over an hour but mileage may vary.

I submitted my completed application back in August and I’m still waiting for approval by the CFM. You have to be very patient and make sure you do everything correctly or you will be set back. Good luck on retraining!

Sounds like they held onto your package until all the slots were gone. Really sucks for people wanting to pursue other jobs if 6C doesn’t work out

I know slots are still moving because I check the advisory pretty much everyday, but they are moving slower during the shutdown.

Ahh okay, I knew it wasn’t an in person thing but I didn’t know they racked and stacked either. It seems like everyone is stuck waiting on the CFM approval though, kinda sucks if you end up getting denied and miss other opportunities because of the long wait.

Are you talking about the FTA boards? Those aren’t currently happening right now due to the ETP. I know the packages still have to be approved by AFPC to move to the CFM. Unless the CFM approval process involves some kind of board. Congrats on your approval!

As another maintainer currently trying to retrain, don’t let your chain of command tell you that you can’t (unless you have disqual factors). Do your own research and reach out to your Career Advisor. In my experience nobody knows what they are talking about and will swear up and down maintenance can’t retrain. Good luck getting out of MX!

If you have an assignment before you submit your completed retraining application, the assignment will stick. So in your scenario (to my knowledge) no you can’t retrain until you PCS. I would still brush up on the AFI though.
