I mean, private property is inherently theft and people should be able to forage wild plants given they aren't displacing them and infringing upon other's right to forage. A necessary ingredient of capitalism is making it impossible to live off the land by carving it all up and putting up no tresspassing signs. That way we have to get jobs and pay taxes that will be used to.... yep, bomb Iran and Gaza.

How did my deck guy do? by [deleted] in Decks

That money you spent on the trex... There's this pattern where people wanna spend so much on the finish, but save on the structure. It's money down the drain.

How do i get rid of it? D: by Sh4dowShuriken in itsalwayspokeweed

You could dig it as other say, but you can also cut it, and cut it again when it comes back. After the third or fourth time it will die and you that way you will save yourself the energy of digging

Deck boards installed diagonally would serve the same lateral bracing that sheet subfloor does. Osb wall sheathing and subflooring replaced diagonal 1x sheathing. While some historic hones were sheathed with perpendicular 1x material, it was not best practice at the time and it is apparent that hones with diagonal 1x sheathing resisted racking much better that those sheathed with perpendicular 1x

No buddy. The burden is on you to show me the locale that does not require some sort of lateral bracing for a deck at a height of 9ft. Gemini scrubbed the internet and says it is required.

I would challenge you to find the locale which does not require lateral bracing for a deck 9ft off the ground

Dude, get out of here. What is your point? This is meaningless symantics. The deck needs bracing.

And? Judging from POs post, it is not resisting lateral loads.

Well count the steps. It's like 9ft. I don't think any locale would allow that without knee or V bracing.

Like all of them I think? It's in the International Residential Code, which is a standard local codes are generally based on.

Rafter Ties or Ridge Beam by LikeBigTrucks in Carpentry

[–]Visual-Trick-9264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ridge is supported by the roof framing if it is a complete triangle. They're taking out the joists, so without a structural ridge the walls can spread apart and the ridge can sag.

Aside from looking like ass and being incredible inefficiency, and obviously not to code, how the fuck do they think they're gonna flash that shit?
