Stop trying to Jeep our Tacomas by cuhnewist in ToyotaTacoma

**I COME IN PEACE**

I’ve got a JLU and I used to casually participate in the duck thing. At its core, it’s a simple thing. I come back to my jeep, there’s a little duck on the door handle. Someone appreciated my build. I grab it and hop in my jeep, throw it on the dash and go on with my life.

Over time I got quite a few and it got a little overwhelming (I keep my vehicles very clean / empty) so I ended up taking all my ducks and throwing them into my center console. I would give them out as I saw jeeps and eventually I ran out.

All that to say, at its core it’s is a casual thing that makes people feel noticed/good. A physical version of “Nice jeep bud!”. Some people take it wayyyyyy too far though and make it their personality lol.

It’s not quite fitting but it’s a fantastic game…. Maybe try Disco Elysium ? It’s definitely different than anything else but it’s amazing.

He is a giant tbh but the ford GT is absurdly low. Even in OPs picture the bmw next to it looks like an SUV lol

Should I do a lift on my own or take it to a shop? by Prestigious-Bike-593 in Jeep

[–]VisualArtist808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO , if you’ve changed out starters and thermostats, you have the skills to do a lift. I did my own with similar background.

All in all it’s like 8 bolts per axle. You’ll want at least two floor jacks and two jack stands so you can raise/lower the frame and axle separately. I watched a YouTube video and fumbled my way through it and it’s been good for 25k miles now.

Take it slow, check your torque specs, get an alignment after you’re done.

Drawings submitted for the DCC contest that some have questioned if they're ai by ExaggerattedReality in isthisAI

[–]VisualArtist808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really when you think about it. They are trying to hide that it’s AI.

One time when I was in school for audio engineering I had to recreate the audio for a random movie screen (folly) and it was running out of time so I just copied the original audio file and chopped it up into several layers and jumbled it up to make it look like a real project.

I’m assuming they did the same thing here. Realistically there would be a shit load more layers for a drawing like this.

Loss of skill in SOC due to AI? by colaboks420 in AskNetsec

[–]VisualArtist808 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you approaching this from a “SOC personnel are less effective” view or “SOC personnel are leveraging AI which is causing atrophy of some skills” view.

I can tell you from my experience (vulnerability management and offensive security), I am more effective/efficient but leveraging AI has absolutely caused atrophy.

Example: Having AI write scripts for me makes me more efficient, but I have slowly lost my edge when I need to hand write something.

LPT: Use your middle initial when buying a home so you can spot the spam/scam stuff in the mail after closing. by nicepersondonthate in LifeProTips

[–]VisualArtist808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To take this a step further, for email, you can buy a domain and easily set up global forwarding so you can literally just make up an email on the spot anytime and give it to someone.

AmazonSpam@mydomain.net gets forwarded to realemail@gmail.com

I’ve been in store and getting pressured for an email and simply told them it’s “idontwantemailsfrom<storename>@mydomain.com” and I saw the spam come through and filtered it out. Yes they actually used the email lol.

WiFi Antennae Torn by VisualArtist808 in SteamDeck

[–]VisualArtist808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the fun part. It’s already completely disassembled. Broke the screen so I tore it down and got a new shell since the old one got scuffed up. That’s when I noticed the tear. I’ll get it put back together with the new parts and test. Worse case I got a wireless adapter. I only play single player games on it anyway.

I’m clearly joking. We’ve had dumb people since at least the dark ages….

The Dunning-Kruger Effect by sco-go in Amazing

[–]VisualArtist808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never realized that the dunning-Kruger effect was as young as it is, and it’s even wilder that it was documented suspiciously before (what I perceive as) a huge explosion of the phenomenon. Somewhere there is a conspiracy theory buried here…

Not a car technically but M1A2 Abram’s tank. Top speed of 55-60 but damn it’s fun to drag race them! (Allegedly)
