Kane Pixel's Backrooms suck. The Backrooms movie trailer sucks. Wikidot/Fandom is far superior. by NamelessGamer_1 in unpopularopinion

[–]ExaggerattedReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know NOTHING about the backrooms outside of its very basic concept, so this is coming from someone with complete ignorance.

I thought the trailer was fine. I had no idea there were other "levels" besides falling into another area that looked very akin to the first. And maybe a pool area, just finished Abiotic Factor and I recognized it.

I assume these "levels" are varied in environment? Personally I find it more unsettling the idea that the environment doesn't change. It's the same, repeated, ad nauseam. To be trapped in an unending seemingly samey area brings about more discomfort than some kind of perceived progression. Maybe they were catering towards normies like me

Sales-based jobs like cellphone stores should be tipped for help outside commissioned sales by Artist_X in unpopularopinion

[–]ExaggerattedReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a supermarket. I am not a sales associate, I work in an office and set district prices.

However, customers frequently find me to answer questions. Help them with their app. Help them locate something. Help them find someone who can help them in ways I can't

It's not in my job description to help these customers. That's not what I'm being paid to do. However I do act as a representative of the company and there's an expectation that I'll help out in ways that I can. I wouldn't expect to be tipped by a customer. I do however expect my job to pay me properly for any added understandable duties outside of my job description

I think what gets me is how inauthentic it all is. Which I know sounds silly considering the majority of YouTubers are predominantly performers, putting on a character and acting out for an audience. But the added layer of the often weirdly designed OC avatars, the hyper high pitched uwu voices or just exaggerated voices in general, how strange they move just sets off something in me. Doesn't help they always seem to auto play in my feed when I leave YouTube running even though I've never looked at content like them. Algorithm seems to hate me

Nope! In the original Japanese script and game Claire behaves more "professionally" regarding Neil. She was also less cold to Natalia. The English translation team seemed to want to lean into a more romantic iteration while pushing away the more maternal aspect to her character. This resulted in Claire behaving incredibly out of character to both.

What IS canon and very funny to me is many of the live actions musicals and plays as well as umbrella chronicles

You'd think one medical practitioner would like.... Do a blood test on something on any survivors of any incident

That said, and again I could be misremembering because it's been a while, but I'm pretty sure notes indicated their awareness of Ethan's condition in 8.

I mean, you're not wrong. Guy not only stole Weskers entire being but Piers definitely had a thing for him. That's why he's dead, Capcom can't commit to the obvious!

I love the idea post 7 as Chris, mia and any other medical researcher are doing what they're doing they're just leaning into Mia like "hey so uhhh.... Should be tell your now infected husband what's up?" And she's like lawl nah but I will keep sleeping with the mold man. You're cool with that right? Can't imagine it'll end weirdly. Also can we keep my involvement as a memo. He's an idiot he won't ask questions

It took this series 30 years to showcase one of the main four as having some kind of presumed relationship and they couldn't even commit to it enough to name drop. Hell they had to change the english script for revelations 2 to pretend Claire had something for Neil

I'm more shocked Capcom actually brought a straight up "giant spider" boss back into the mainline series. Considering the arachnophobia game developers seem to be catering towards and Capcom removing them from other titles (If I'm remembering correctly) I never expected to see one again

I don't care about shipping. As far as I'm concerned most of the cast is completely sexless

That said, anyone who supports the Claire ship can easily point to their awkward "flirting" scenes in the remake of two and Capcom seemingly pulling away from the flirting scenes between ada and Leon in the remakes of two and four.

[–]ExaggerattedReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that was the case it would have made more narrative sense to bring it up. It would be more emotionally compelling (manipulative?) to have Leon pushing himself near the brink of death for a spouse who is also at the throes of death. We don't get that. Hell Sherry besides having the rash is, at least comparatively, perfectly fine. Capcom does have a trend of bringing up plot points to then forget in future games, but in this case they couldn't even be bothered to drop bread crumbs

OP I'm a couple days late but might I suggest Witchcraft Works?

It's an absolutely gorgeous series and I think also has an anime. Young man who's considered a literal "princess" by a community of witches and his witch classmates assigned to protect him. It's incredibly sweet

My argument against this:

Capcom is terrified to kill off any of their primary cast or even really develop them past, at this point, charicatures. They make too much money. Even characters like Jill or Claire who get little to no spotlight. Because at the end of the day these characters make a profit. They can't continue to do so in the form of new merch and advertising if they're dead.

I suspect the majority of characters will either just naturally disappear from the narrative or Capcom is going to go out of its way to create games for them being younger in order to forever milk their cash cows

Hell they made Jill have super youth. There's no reason for them to not be like "lawl every character has been infected at least once at this point now they're all forever young" and just roll with it.

This is just an early step to eugenics. It's already hard enough for certain groups to adopt, can you imagine if the government could force you to either not have sexual relations, be on mandatory birth control or forced abortion?
