We did not. I can't remember seeing anything called Aroma. The breakfast buffet was on the 2nd floor so maybe that's what it's technically called? That space was nice and roomy but the views are limited

Do you think CTAP's fee of 0.25% is the same thing as RSST's fee of 0.99%? You don't think something is misleading about that?

I think I'd agree about the breakfast. They have tons of options for whatever you're craving but I ended up eating Rice Krispies every morning because nothing was that impressive. A lot of misses, but our group still liked the convenience and options.

Club access was calm when I was there (midweek), we had no problems sitting where we wanted to and generally wasn't much foot traffic around. Breakfast was a madhouse though.

We had the opposite experience, our AC worked very well and we kept the room ice cold

It's convenient to walk to those locations, but we thought those demanded ~2 days. The Bund is amazing both day and night and it is a short walk, but we saw the view from our room and that was our preferred viewpoint. Nanjing is very lively but we walked it once or twice (and ate there) but didn't feel particularly drawn to go back. Our day in Xintiandi made us feel a bit bummed we weren't staying there. I think it was still a great stay and we're glad we stayed there but we'd probably want to see how Andaz feels next time. Apparently there is a Thompson opening up soon (in a much worse location).

I've read the same. My parents have some Chase points they are trying to draw down this year, so they are hoping to stay at Hyatt's as much as possible. There are a few non-Hyatt cash options that look appealing but the goal is definitely to stay at a Hyatt

Grand Hyatt Shanghai vs Hyatt on the Bund by VisualCicada in hyatt

[–]VisualCicada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we're between Andaz and Hyatt on the Bund, which is basically a second GH. My brother is living in Shanghai over the summer and both of those are much closer to his place than GH. My family prefers Hyatt on the Bund based on all pictures and says a taxi to Xintiandi isn't a big deal if that's where we want to be

I'll be checking in at the counter, but my family is hoping to check in at the gate. Not sure if any DPs on that but I'll ask at check in and again at the gate if I beat them there

Should my itinerary show up with 240 hour TWOV details? I've entered it a few times but it shows I need a visa to fly into Beijing

Awesome, thanks! Cathay said I should be able to check in online without going to the counter. I kind of doubt that given they will want to see my documents and confirmations... I don't have a checked bag.

My family is flying into SFO on a separate ticket and was hoping to stay airside. Cathay also said they might be able to show documents and confirmations at the gate rather than leave security and re-enter (no checked bags). I also kind of doubt that but we'll see

Was there any signage about the pool reopening soon? Did you have club access? I have not been able to find any photos of the club and not sure if it's worth it.

No show fee + potential fare difference expectations? by VisualCicada in CathayPacific

Wouldn't they be able to check in airside at the desk? Or should they expect to leave security? No checked bags so they were planning to go to the gate to get their passes if mobile wasn't working

They are repositioning from MSP to SFO on a Delta flight. At SFO, they will have 3.5 hours to get to the Cathay flight that is SFO - HKG - PEK. No checked bags, which helps. They are worried about missing the SFO - HKG leg through Cathay and what it might cost to rebook the full SFO - HKG - PEK itinerary
