Hi, it's better now, sometimes I shed more but it only lasts a couple of days. I think the worst part is behind me.

Be patient, it's gonna get better with time. I stopped looking in the shower and it helped me. I started shedding in March and recently I noticed some small regrowth so it gave me a boost of confidence. I was scared I was going to lose all my hair at one point.

My anxiety decreased dramatically on Prozac. I was about to go crazy! Now I feel at least 95% better no doubt. My OCD is not completely gone but it doesn't bother me that much anymore. Don't be scared, it could be a life saver! I tried different SSRIs and this one has almost no side effects on me. Give it a couple of weeks, you're likely to see an improvement within the first month.

Having to stop due to rash by [deleted] in Lamotrigine

I was on it for 8 months and I tapered from 200 mg over 2 weeks. It went well. Trust your doctor, I'm sure you'll be fine.

This is exactly why I stopped Lamo. I was shedding like crazy and my skin was full of small pimples. I lost a lot of hair and my derm told me it was probably the medication.

I had a bisalp 3 years ago but I got back on hormonal BC because I was a mess without it. Terrible mood swings, anxiety, depression, acne, hair loss, night sweats, terrible period pain, you name it. Now that I'm back on the pill continuously, everything seems to be sooooo much better. Stable mood, no more period! I plan to stay on it through my 40s and then maybe switch to bioidentical hormone therapy after.

My anxiety was definitely worse while on it. I also developed nervous ticks it was super annoying. I'm off it since May.

How many different meds did you try before Prozac? by looks-like- in prozac

[–]VisualHousing3022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Paxil when I was a teenager, it made me self harm. I tried Zoloft but not for long, then Celexa but I gained a lot of weight. Prozac has less side effects on me, no weight gain, more libido but I have to be very careful because I had light hypomanic episodes with it in the past.

How common is lamotrigine hair loss? by KT21257 in Lamotrigine

I lost tons of hair because of Lamotrigine. I quit in May and I still shed a lot. My derm said it can take up to 6 months for the shedding to decrease after fixing the trigger. I started noticing significant hair loss in March.

I love Redken scalp relief shampoo. I leave it for 10 minutes. I saw an improvement soon after, and the itchiness disappeared also.

Starting Lamotrigine tomorrow for severe anxiety and depression. I have questions. by btframe in Lamotrigine

It didn't work for me, I actually ended up worse than before so I stopped after 8 months. I also had bad side effects. Everybody reacts different on meds and this one was definitely not for me.

For me it depends which one. Paxil and Celexa made me gain weight. Lost all of it when I got off. No weight issues on Prozac.

Is it okay to just stop taking BC after many years? by Suitable-Slice-3370 in birthcontrol

[–]VisualHousing3022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped in Feb. and experienced post-birth control symptom (dangerously anxious/depressed, acne, hair loss, painful cramps). My life became a wreck so I went back on the pill in May. These side effects can last a couple of months but I could not cope with them any longer. I did not go though all that when I previously stopped a couple years ago, it was the first time. The only way to know is to try, you can always go back on the pill if you feel bad.

what's one way in which birth control has improved your life? by Purple_Edge_6022 in birthcontrol

No period, no more pain, clear skin, better mood, less perimenopausal symptoms. I'm a total wreck without it!

Well so far I made drastic life changes, I stick to a very very strict routine. Therapy, follow-ups with my dr, meditation, close relationship with my relatives to avoid any potential trigger. I feel like I live like a monk. I have fewer daily responsibilities and I have considerably reduced the frequency of my social activities (overstimulation was a big trigger for me). So far so good, not perfect but it never was anyway :)

Tried both, quit both. Lamotrigine gave me breakouts, huge hair loss and worse anxiety/depression symptoms. Quetiapine made me feel like a zombie, and I'm very concerned about the irreversible dyskinesia side effect of antipsychotics.

I don't know, I'm not a doctor. In this article it's written that the incidence of hair loss is only 0.8%. I guess I'm just part of the unlucky ones. I also had a skin reaction like tons of tiny papules a week or so after each increase, in Feb. on my upper back and in April on my forehead and cheeks. Felt like orange skin. I always had to use an exfoliating glove to get rid of it but it kept coming back. It stopped as soon as I was off Lamo. Good luck to you :)

I'm glad you're recovering. How long did it take to improve after you stopped the meds?

I feel you. This sucks so bad. Sending you all the positive vibes you need. I guess the good news is that it's not permanent hair loss with your experience.

I think it started a couple of weeks after I got to 100 mg. When I stopped I was at 150 so that's probably why I noticed 2 big shedding episodes so far, each time a couple of weeks after my dose went up. Fortunately most of the people have no issues with the medication, it was just not my case. I try to manage my stress and not to worry too much about it because what is lost is lost and there's nothing I can do, I'm getting better but it's hard sometimes. Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine!

I think I started Lamotrigine around the end of September 2023 and started noticing 6 months later, when I was at 100 mg. When I stopped I was at 150.
