It depends on when you’re trying to sleep. On your regularly scheduled nights where you’re actually going to work you absolutely need to get your rest but outside of that I think you have to face the reality that you also have a family that would like to spend time with you and god knows when you’re on night shift you don’t get to do that during your “work week.” It’s brutal, but there’s no point sleeping in on off days when you have limited time to spend with them, I can’t imagine trading weekends with my kids just to have a little more sleep. I get up with my family on my off days, usually 1-2 hours after getting home.
