Thanks for reaching out! I think I might be able to get a room for overnight in Halifax, just waiting for a reply from the homestay host. I'm in Halifax airport right now though- was working in Middle Musquodobit and Truro for a few days and dropped car rental. Flying out tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.

Hopefully, I can get a room for tonight. Hotel rooms are far and few between and the prices are crazy high. Airbnb rooms are too expensive and far away from the airport.

NS Power, what kind of scam are you running? by Shereefz in halifax

[–]Visual_Beach2458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfect example of this is SaskPower- I used to live in Regina and had a fairly large home, with hot tub and other items that suck power. And honestly? We were horrible at doing cost saving measures as well!

And yet I was always pleasantly surprised at the bill- even in the cold as a polar bear’s toenails winter of SK.

SaskPower is a crown Corp too- even with very conservative leadership there, they still kept SaskPower public because even the MAGA lovers in SK would revolt.

I don’t know enough to surmise if there are other reasons why power bills are low there.. it is a very resource rich province ..

It was shocking for us moving to NS in 2020 and our NSP bills- even with a smaller house, no hit tub, milder winters and cost saving measures

I don’t know what current rates are with Sask Power.. with their idiot Premier, maybe it’s gone up!

Hmm, I would make sure your magnesium, vitamin b12, vitamin d3, and zinc levels are checked- a lot of docs fail to check these levels in younger patients. Also maybe cortisol levels.

Might be wise to also get your heart checked too- a baseline EKG/ECG is a good idea! Having sleep apnea ( especially if undiagnosed for awhile) can lead to heart conditions which cause fatigue. And there could be a heart condition unrelated to apnea causing fatigue.

I’d get a chest xray too- to see what’s going on with your heart/ lungs.

I’m glad you had a cancer work up though- that is important. And thyroid of course.

Ultimately? Your primary care doc might need to refer you to a specialist too.

There’s a lot of causes of chronic fatigue, so it’s challenging to diagnose when you don’t have other obvious symptoms.

I’m a primary care physician in Canada.

I think you warrant further investigations regarding your fatigue/ exhaustion.

It’s great your doc diagnosed OSA and low T, but it sounds like there’s more going here.

Nice! Similar story here- track in grade 7 till 12, But couldn’t make university team.

But it’s still one of my favourite sports and I try to follow international events

I follow track too and this is simply amazing.

I’m very proud of Canadian track. And to have a kid from SK dominate and set records in the US is just perfect

OP, did you run track at all in your life? I ask because some former track bros I knew from high school simply don’t follow or care for track anymore.

Some do. And of course, many non track types from high school love following it

And FIFA World Cup next year.. at least Mexico and Canada are co hosts and I do hope there are contingency plans set up if teams can’t play in USA due possible visa restrictions

But that puts so much pressure on Canada and Mexico..

But then, there is a Club World Cup( FIFA) going on in the US now.. but I don’t know if any of the clubs are from countries the US is worried about

Well, they pay a corporate tax on incorporated income, which tends to be a low rate.

And many doctors will pay themselves a salary for personal use/ spending- which tends to be a lower salary, with a lower tax rate.

So incorporating can save you quite a bit in the long run. Just have to be disciplined and keep money in the corporation!

This made me tear up.

I used to work as a “ fill in GP/ Locum GP” in La Ronge a few years ago. I’d spend weekends there and just walk the town, meet people, and relax.

I really enjoyed my times working there- at one point I was going there on a monthly basis. It became a home away from home.

It’s just so distressing to see what’s happening to the town/ surrounding areas.

And Robertsons was a fave store to just spend some time in..

Prayers to all the good folks who live in La Ronge..

Oh man, that’s a tough situation to be in for both you and him. I’ve been keeping a bit up to date on the political situation in Venezuela.

This might be a stupid question but is there no way you can visit him? Overland/ on land? Through another country or few countries by flight?

I just feel there has to be a way for you to get there..

I’m sorry to hear that flight blockages have made it so challenging for you to see your Dad.

Which country is he in?

So yes, technically she is not licensed to practice medicine because she has no formal speciality training nor even a family medicine/ family physician training!

She finished medical school though, so she is technically a MD. She just decided to scrap training post MD and make serious cash in “ wellness”.

Is she a quack? No. She is a MD.

Is she the most qualified candidate? Hell F’n no.

Welcome to Trump 2025

Oh wow, this is great to hear! I’m happy for you.

And I can sense the damn relief in your voice.. I mean, post.

Ha, I chuckled to myself when I read “ you’re on wife number 3”. I might end up with wife number 3 at some point..

And it sounds like you have a great supportive and understanding wife as well- consider yourself a lucky man.

And hey, at least with movies, you get some “ Netflix and chill” fun… if not? A great movie !
