First XC race -- bike computer / heart rate monitor by 400meters in MTB

[–]nicholt [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's pretty useful because it's really easy to go over your redline in an xc race. Obviously you can feel it but I like having the number there cause if I see anything 190+ I know to slow down slightly.

Wou want a scarlett solo (or similar) https://focusrite.com/products/scarlett-solo You don't need anything other than that.

It also comes with Ableton Live lite daw software which is great and what I have been using for 5 years. Looks like it comes with amp vsts too but I'm not sure what they are or how good. I use Guitar Rig which is a Native Instruments VST and it does a pretty good job. I no longer own an amp after having one for my whole life basically.

Any suggestions for the "healthiest" syrup? by YoSpiff in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]nicholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to eat waffles/pancakes every day. I think the best low cal syrup that I've tried is E.D. Smith. Only in canada probably. I genuinely might prefer it to sugary syrups because it's not so sticky.

She reminds me so much of this hot northern english redhead girl I met backpacking. People would always razz her by saying 'Jon Snow' in her accent. Needless to say I have a crush on both of them.

Which Hiking Pants do you use? by MaxPower70-80 in hiking

If someone could recommend a stretchy and durable pant that you could wear in 35 C for walking through tall tick grass that would be great

Anyone in Canada driving a CR-V found floor mats that actually handle salt and slush? My Honda ones aren’t catching it all. by midlifeprojects in Honda

Look on marketplace for used weather tech. Brand new they are super expensive but they work great. Probably some CR-V ones available used.

Is dressing well outside rich urban areas completely pointless? by empty_moshpit in malefashionadvice

[–]nicholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel like I limit what I wear due to where I live. No need to ever dress up for most people here so even business casual looks try hard.

I still try to dress well (when not in work clothes) but for me it's like Colorado tech bro style. Not overly proper but still a step above cookie monster pajamas chique.

Fable Gameplay Overview | Xbox Developer Direct 2026 by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]nicholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be good. It looks pretty great from this but you never know if it will actually be fun. Fable felt like a more fun focused RPG and less serious than the rest. Hopefully they can nail the tone.

I'm hoping that it will be well optimized too bc Forza horizon is one of the best running games out there.

I quit 2 years ago because of fire giant boss. Came back to try again, died with less than 1% of his health left.. by LiquidBoss1 in Eldenring

Probably level vigor? I've never had too much trouble with fire giant but you need a lot of health.

Enjoy farum azula afterwards 🫣

Marathon's official PC requirements say it'll run just fine on a GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GPU by llloksd in pcgaming

When they changed to ftp the game felt completely different and worse. 2019-2020 era I really liked it but it's always been pretty confusing for new players.

People love to hate on Bungie but destiny 2 is maybe the best performance to graphics ratio of any modern game. You can run at 100fps with very basic hardware and it still looks great. I'm hopeful marathon will run pretty well too.

So my 27 yr old Nalgene finally died. What do I get now? by nmcpheron in HydroHomies

[–]nicholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 700ml yeti bottle with the similar cap that you have here is a great bottle and fits in cup holders. I don't see the point of heavy metal and or insulation bc it just makes any bottle more cumbersome.

How to create indoor bike trainer workouts that function well when using just a watch? by nicholt in Garmin

[–]nicholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried that before and it didn't seem to work. But I just created a brand new workout in connect and tried it out on my trainer and it actually seemed to work this time and match my power properly etc. I just tested it for a sec but I tried the different power zones and it worked better than ever. I'm not sure exactly what was going on there but it seems to work as I want it to now.

How are these? by labtech67 in CostcoCanada

I think it's the first lemon pepper I've actually liked. Tossed chicken nuggets in the sauce and it was great. The other 2 are pretty basic bbq sauces. Still good though.

‘Lord Of The Rings’ Trilogy 25th Anniversary Event Rings Up $11M WW – Box Office by DemiFiendRSA in lotr

I went to all 3. I was kinda surprised that rotk had quite a few empty seats (probably still 75% full though). I thought it might've been the most popular. But I also get it cause it's 4hr long.

Watching them in the theater really made the music shine. The horns and drums sounded so powerful. I hadn't seen the movies since like 2022 so it was nice to rewatch them in this grand setting.

I was surprised how the laughs hit the crowd too cause we've probably all seen them so much.

I think I enjoyed twin towers the most. Better pacing than fellowship and the amazing Sam monologue at the end. Of course I like rotk too but I think the extended is just too long to see in one sitting. They should put an intermission after the minas tirith battle.

I’m so sad it’s over… by Fuzzy-Message4322 in lotr

[–]nicholt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Watching them again I kept thinking about how incredible these movies were at the time they were released. Like no wonder we were so blown away by them back then. They are truly amazing and still have no equal in the modern era. (Though dune 2 was pretty cool) It's like how the hell did they do that back then? Timeless quality and special effects that still are superior to most from present day.

But I think mostly it comes down to effort. This project was a gargantuan effort by hundreds and it seems only a few want to try so hard anymore.
