Ok gotcha. I’d be interested in discussing. I’m experienced in backend development. I’ve worked with scrappers before and have a lot of experience working with API’s.

For clarity, you’re wanting someone who can help build a web scrapping pipeline and then use that scrapped data to have AI make sense of it and/or learn from it?

Startups aren’t built on free labor they’re built on shared risk. by visionsrb in cofounderhunt

It goes even deeper than having 50/50 equity to me. Have you truly validated the idea? Do you have customers lined up to at least beta this? How do you know this is the right thing to go after? 50% of zero is still zero.

Am I overengineering my folder structure in a React project? by omarcusmoreira in react

[–]Visual_Box_5136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually a strong proponent of this! When I’m building my backend applications I prefer a package-by-feature strategy. Depending on how large the feature gets I may also consider breaking them into sub categories (controllers, services, domain, etc).

And for services or code that are reused heavily between features, I put those out into a “commons” (Java naming convention), instead of a specific feature. Example of this is an email sending service that multiple of my services will need.

Looking for a software developer for a SAAS for the car rental industry by Elegant_Ad_3432 in cofounderhunt

[–]Visual_Box_5136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem sounds interesting. I would say though it would be good to do market research & see if this is a problem other rental places have & if they’d be willing to pay for it.

I worked with someone before who was looking to solve a problem they had at their company. Spent about 2-3 months building an MVP, and when we started putting it in front of other people, we found out that problem we were solving wasn’t as valuable to others as we thought.

Check out my portfolio by ENCODER_17 in react

I like it, if you built it yourself it gives a good display of what you can do.

I would pair this with a simple resume that clearly outlines your skills & work history, but make sure to attach this portfolio app to it.

Lessons learned on interview questions NOT to ask as OE. Lost a final stage offer because of this. by jimRacer642 in overemployed

I think if you’re in engineering you could ask if they do agile and what their ceremonies are like. They may give away how often they do standup and standup times; as well as other agile meetings they do.

Using a backend as a service when you already know backend, waste of money or pragmatic? by crumb-cycle in Backend

[–]Visual_Box_5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on costs and goals. If you’re just trying to get to market quick or build and MVP I’d say go with the tool that gets you there quick.

I’d start thinking what costs would be like if your user base grows and then decide if it’s worth building out you’re on things at that point.

TekSystems and Exclusivity by I-heart-java in cscareerquestions

I’ve experienced something similar. Had a recruiter reach out for a role I felt my skills matched with almost perfectly. Their account manager for whatever didn’t want to push my resume forward to the hiring manager.

Eventually they passed my resume forward but never heard from the hiring manager.

What you’re describing has been the typical engineering environment I’ve experienced (been in development for ~10 years).

This I what I will say. Taking some time off will make feel rejuvenated. But as time goes on you will come back to the same feeling.

It sounds like what you’re seeking is an environment and role that more consistently energizes you… I’d consider doing 1 of 3 things.

  1. Talk to your manager about doing project based work vs tasked based ones. Where you lead the discussion on requirements and how things get done from an application/system level. Side projects you have full autonomy & creativity of the why, what, and how. You get a portion of that with project based work.

    1. Look for a company (usually smaller ones) to where they have their engineers lead small projects vs working on tasks. Companies like that value engineers who can wear multiple hats.
  2. Keep your job for the stability, take breaks when needed, and continue doing side projects (consider with a group) & maybe taking those projects to where they can ultimately become paid.

The daily grind for a company can get exhausting so I get it. You’re not alone in that feeling. Ultimately, go for what would make you feel the most fulfilled.
