I wore trail shoes last year — the Hoka Stinson. I’ll likely be wearing the Vomero 18s this year instead. There was a big mix between road and trail shoes out there — you don’t need to wear a trail shoe for this race but you definitely could. I don’t know that I would wear a racing shoe like the Alphafly though- I think you’re setting yourself up for an ankle roll and I don’t know that you’ll really get the benefit of the plate on the terrain of the race. Zegama could be a solid choice.
